I was excited to do something myself for this, until I read the requirements.
What I had in mind would have run for at least six months and would probably need more development time if I were to retain creative control, as I am a perfectionist when it comes to anything artistic I create.

Since that won't work I would be willing to take a back seat and collaborate with a serious team.
I have no ability to code nor do I have knowledge of ciphers and cryptography. All I have to offer is ideas.
I already had a (very)general story idea and was in the process of setting down the rough mechanics of it could work to achieve the desired goals when I realized that my involvement with this would have to be less than I originally hoped.

So please, if you are very serious about this project and either have put together a team or in the process of doing so. I would like the opportunity to put my ideas out there or just add to your own.

You can pm me for starters if your willing. Obviously if anything is worked out alternate avenues of communication will be utilized.

Let's Change the Game

Have any of you heard about this Let's Change the Game competition? Its a call for new ARG designers to come up with and run an ARG to spread awareness of cancer and raise money to fund cancer reasearch. You can check out the details at www.letschangethegame.org. I'm actually going to enter and I'm supposed to find a team to work with and I don't think there's a better place to look then here.

Incidentally, I'm looking for people who'd like to contribute to a team I'm putting together, especially people with rocking code-fu. (That's like PHP code, not ciphers.) More here.

Just wanted to bump this really. Two weeks or so left for the deadline and it's for such a good cause, and all.

Anyone here entered anything??

I don't mean to question or challenge your desire to help fight such a cause, but can you prove that this is legitimate? I don't see anywhere on the Cancer Research site that mentions you or your game.

Nightmare scenario is people donate out of kindness, and some guy runs off with all the money. Perhaps you can write to Cancer Research and have them issue a statement on their website?

I'm sure many here will vouch for Adrian. I'm also hoperful that if you get shortlisted, or at least if you win, you'll be invited to visit Cancer Research to talk to staff etc. (It'd certainly be a big help when padding the story out to have first hand experience of what goes on there.) At this point I think you'd be pretty sure it was endorsed by CR! Wink

No one will have handed any money of to anyone until someone has won the competition, so even if you don't believe it's legitimate, you won't have lost out by entering - as for making sure that donors know it's going to a good cause whilst playing the game, well that's all part of the challenge! Smile

A word of warning to anyone leaving submitting their proposal (including a finely-crafted 30 second summary) to the last minute. There is an unspoken 400 character limit (line breaks seem to count as two characters) on the summary. Over 400 characters and it'll spit your submission right back at you.

Well, my team made it through, which is awesome but from the comments about the game premise it sounds like they absolutely hated it, or at least put more emphasis on one part then we intended xD

Soo. Lets change the game... a LOT!

Hehe, can't wait though.
