 		I hope this turns into something I really do. Perhaps we'll see some other viral sites turn up. Maybe some-in game viral sites from our time, for companies that are developing technology that will eventually lead to the design and construction of the NCC-1701.

 		On Camera 1 on ncc-1701.com there is a briefcase or equipment case near the man welding. It appears to have a logo or symbol on it. Likely nothing but does anyone have the skills to enhance this and get a better image of it?

That's such a good idea, though... companies from our time. But, really, (as much as I love Trek) do they really come up with creative ideas like this? I mean, the movie is supposedly the future going to the past, which they've done a lot. Not exactly creative and outward-thinking. One can always hope, though. *crosses fingers*

Ya never know. New people are behind this new film and considering the success of Abram's and Co's Cloverfield marketing strategy...

PS I'm going to see Cloverfield in two hours! (released today in the UK) I hope it lives up to the months of hype. I'm nearly pissing myself with anticipation.

Yea, when i looked at this, it also seemed as if the 'logo or symbol' changed shape during the weld flash...!!!
Poss' a number or small display screen... Confused
Or perhaps my old eyes are failing me...

I found these quotes from Cloverfield's viral site Tagruato.jp interesting.

Tagruato Headline: Hatsui Satellite Works for the Futura - "This equipment will open eyes to worlds never before imagined. It is a bright, united future for all of us." "Our first step into space was a triumphant one. Our next will be unforgettable."

Investor News: TAGRUATO LAUNCHES FIRST SATELLITE - "When asked why he overruled the abort command, Yoshida said, "Because here at Tagruato, we don't let lightning stand in the way of achieving our goals. In this case that goal was reaching for the stars."

I doubt that the crew is going to insert anything ridiculously non-canon into the Trek lore. Especially something that is just a nod to how awesome they've been in previous endeavors. Those guys are canon whores; doing this film without much input from the higher-ups in Trek Fandom/History is a huge gamble and people are already expecting (and hoping) that this movie will suck without taking an even bigger risk by sticking something Cloverfield-related in there.

Now, if they'd worked something from Trek lore into Cloverfield viral marketing so that it somehow fit together... that would be clever (and also completely awesome.) And entirely possible, as the viral marketing campaign began long after JJ knew he was doing the Trek film... Very Happy

By achievements and difficulties are you referring to the successes of Alias/LOST/Cloverfield and the horrible backlash that happened when Keri Russell cut her hair on Felicity? Laughing
