what popularity?? I'm playing it straight here....if ya(people in general) don't like what uF has been doing for...shall we say EVER...then leave. FacFiction is a huge part of this entire forum.

I responded to the OP's rant with a rant to counter.

I agree....but if they use the proper tags then all is well there IMHO. But that's not what the OP was stating. But I do see your point guerra101...perhaps I should've been more directed in my rant earlier. Wasn't towards you. Maybe I misinterpreted the thread title? I assumed FanFic was for fan fiction? Or maybe the fact that the original post in this thread has really nothing to do with the thread's title....either way the thread's title is what pissed me off....the thread's first post just doesn't make sense.

Fanfiction is great. Fanfiction is wonderful. But stop making up fanfiction and posting it like it's an actual Cloverfield 2 script.

Tag it as fanfiction if you like. But stop passing it off like it's a workup or an actual script.

1) I agree with Lambo on what he said about people not having to read fanfiction. You have options, you know.

2) Some of the fanfiction is actually pretty good, if you've ever taken the time to read them.

3) Some of the people who don't want fanfiction on the forums are possibly some of the people who don't want a Cloverfield 2. In my opinion, I think that good movies deserve sequels, that is, of course, they are good (I'm looking at you, Spider-Man 3 Shocked

)

I find it interesting how people are whining about the forum 'going to hell' since the movie came out and a new surge of interest has come with it. Isn't that exactly the sentiment many here felt was coming from the 'old uF crowd' when the first of the Cloverfield fans (or 1-18-08 fans as we were often known back then)? Don't become what you hate. Suffer the growing pains of the new people and if they choose to share an idea about a sequel they are welcome to. You are welcome to critique those in a productive and intelligent way. If they proceed to post their idea in several threads at the same time, start more than one thread about their idea - we have trout, there are mods around *ahem*. The only fault I find with people posting their sequel ideas is that they each feel they need a new thread to do it. If merging threads was still possible, believe me - I'd have done that already.

Just remember, you were once in their shoes. Don't forget how excited you were and how bad it felt when someone made you feel unwelcome.
