Ah! Darn, we really need someone who understands Chinese (And it's various dialects)

I've posted on another board to check.

Do you know what the first half of the message is saying?

Yeah I am figuring it out since she didn't speak well.

I am pretty sure is "I (something) (something). I am sorry."

Super. A friend of mine suggested they may be using a technique that was used (he thinks) in twin peaks, where by each word is split into sylables, reversed and then pasted back together again. It still sounds vaguley "human" but is distorted...

Bit of a long shot like.

Gowan Number8, you can do it son! Very Happy

The thing is that like "Tsi Tian" it is not something that is normally spoken. Maybe a native mandarin speaker can shed some light to this.

A friend of mine reckons the second half might be "I'm not sorrowful" rather than "I am sorry", but he admits his knowledge of Mandarin is, at best, basic.

After listen to the mp3 for like 50 times I am 99.99% sure that the last phrase is "I'm sorry". For reference: here

The first part though I really have no idea. Hearing it backwards didn't help either.

Fair enough; just thought I'd throw what I'd found into the mix. As I said, Dan's Mandarin isn't exactly fluent, so I reckon we can probably go with your version :)

Have a listen to a pitched down version, is it any clearer to you?

Well to be fair I am not fluent myself, as I speak cantonese. But from what I know I am pretty confident about that part. No big deal really, as the first part is the main interest here.

if you take that part (two phrases) and then reverse them and pitch them down, it sounds a bit like 'you should know that... i love you mom'. maybe its just me though.

Alright, if we can't [PUZZLE] it, we'll [SPEC] it! Smile

probable options for the first 'Chinese' part are:
- I love you (mom)
- some other form of affection/praise (butchered, like "Tsi Tian")
- Goodbye
- Farewell
- some other form of "so long, and thanks for all the fish".

Or it could be the clue to the next big puzzle... though that seems unlikely to me.
