In my opinion, the only Godzilla design that looks natural is the one in the original movie. GINO, while perhaps more realistic in design overall, consisted of terrible effects and was in an equally terrible movie. The head and anthropomorphic arms were my only complains design-wise. If it weren't for that huge jaw, I wouldn't really have any problems with the design, but it just looks absurdly stupid.

If by "natural," you mean "realistic", as in, "GINO looked more realistic than Godzilla," then it depends on which Godzilla movie you are watching; sometimes that's true, sometimes it's not.

Well, I gotta go now, so I'll talk to you guys some other time.

By "natural" I mean it looks much more like a living creature. Granted it looks kinda T-Rex-ish... it looks much more like it could actually exsist. The original Godzilla looks kinda like he would tip over very easily. Im sure if animated properly, that design may look more like a serious living creature, but the guy-in-a-rubber-suit look really hurts believability. As he is in most of the TV shows and stuff, he walks way too slowly and such... and I like how the American version actually looks as though it can run and jump instead of just waddle. If they gave the American one the ability to do the radioactive breath and made him a little bigger, most people would have liked it.

Thats just my opinion though. Confused

the Relic was a horrible movie. the completely butchered the plot of the book and removed any possibility of making the rest of the series into movies.

Interesting. I didn't read the book. What aspects were left out that could have transferred to a series of movies?

Godzilla, Gorgo, GINO, Relic

Okay, I'm back, but just for a couple of minutes. Let's see....

Lambo: Again, I agree that, overall, GINO is more realistically designed. However, an animal that large could in no way move as quickly as it does in the movie. The larger an organism gets, the slower it moves in proportion to it's own size. That's why Spider-Man moves faster than a normal human; he's got the proportionate speed of a spider. Then look at elephants and such. For their size they are slower than humans for example.
And, in my opinion, a guy in a suit looks much better. (Assuming it's shot right and is of good quality. Reeves actually adressed the fact that the main reason Godzilla movies typically look fake is because they are shot from monster eye-level or even higher. If they to position the camera at human level more often, the realism factor would increase, like in the GINO movie, and Cloverfield.)

xboyonfirex: Nobody brought Gorgo up. It definitely should be brought up, though. Some people seem to have theories about mother and child relationships between MGP and, well, his mother....MrsGP.
For those not in the know, Gorgo involves the discovery and capture of a large theropod-like dinosaur. He is put on show in London, when his mother shows up to rescue him. Interestingly, the movie ends with the mother being successful and the humans failing miserably. Also, its director was Eugene Lourie, who also directed The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, which of course was one of the inspirations for Cloverfield.

skatehimrock: GINO was a male. He was asexual.

Fozziebare13: They left out Agent Pendergast, the most interesting character in the book. As I stated earlier, I haven't seen the movie recently, so, not sure of anything else.

I was watching the trailer for Dagora and I gotta admit- it looks very 'Cthulhu Mythos-ish'

That's one that I haven't seen. I just checked out the trailer, and it actually does look somewhat "Cthulhu Mythos-ish." I had previously thought it sounded uninteresting, but that trailer just changed my mind. Smile

Edit: It's always nice to hear Akira Ifukube's music; the best part of any Godzilla movie. Also, it looks like there is a shootout on the same beach that had a shootout in Destroy All Monsters!.

King Kong vs. Godzilla

As Ouroborus said, no, there is not an alternate ending to King Kong vs. Godzilla; that is an urban legend of sorts.

Although the American version was drastically altered from the Japanese original, the endings are pretty much the same:

There is an earthquake, and Kong and Godzilla, in the midst of battle, fall into the ocean. Kong is seen swimming away, while Godzilla stays underwater.

Apparently, some people think the U.S. version has Kong winning, while the Japanese has Godzilla winning. In truth, you are supposed to root more for Kong (many people complain about the abnormally horrible Kong suit; it was designed so as to be less scary to kids, and to make Kong look more likable, despite the fact that he destroys his fair share of property, but I think it failed), but there isn't really a clear winner.

In the early '90's, Toho tried to remake King Kong vs. Godzilla, but they couldn't get the rights to use Kong again. They then tried to go with Mechani-Kong (from King Kong Escapes, also a Toho movie), but Universal said that it was still too close to Kong.

Hopefully, in the future, it will happen, but I doubt it'll be any time soon.

As a side note, King Kong vs. Frankenstein (or maybe Prometheus) was originally planned as the third Kong movie (after Son of Kong), but it would've been too expensive, which is why the rights were sold to Toho.

yeah, apparently King Kong was more popular than Godzilla [even in Japan] so that's why King Kong won, plus Godzilla was still being seen as a villain.
