ok, partial trout for you...
Trout Razz

Yeah, we've discussed Zoltan to death, almost literally... but partial because you listed his personal contact info which hasn't been listed before (though we do believe him to be a real person)... so rather, I'm going to remove the info - feel free to link to the page that has it if you wish, but until we know he is an entirely fictional character (almost entirely doubtful), let's play it safe and nice...

eta: I also realize you could have done the edit, so sorry for that Wink

Yeah I know the Zoltan thing got discussed to death, but we're just so lacking in clues that I thought I'd try and open up a new channel. Would it be considered a faux pas to make contact with Zoltan? I'm still relatively new at this.

Stumbled upon this watching the blog load at EniTechLabs.com:
http://enitechlabs.com/blog/videos/GP05.flv
All the videos can be found via engineering the same URL, going consistently and sequentially from GP01-GP05. There is no GP06 as of this writing.

yeah, a good habit for updates is to explore all you can in a site, don't close the browser, but go check your browser's cache folder and copy out any files from there (that includes streamed videos, especially if they're FLV files)
The nice thing is, even SWF flash files on a site that need to load data from external sources (compiled swfs that you can't just view the source) still load their files in the browser cache - good method for catching XML update files and whatnot.

Zoltan's site

Apparently, whimit.com is a site for Russian-American men and women to get together and chat. I suppose that his involvement could be an attempt to promote his site (I have seen this in other ARGs, such as one that I clearly remember was used to promote the game "Second Life"). Whether or not that's the intention here, I have no idea, but I thought I'd pass on the info.

Any other news?

I received an email:

No other news AFAIK. All the pieces? Ugh.

Should we be letting the resistance know that we pieced together "all the pieces"?

I just noticed something when looking back over the device photos. Its probably nothing, but I figured I’d mention it anyway. In the one from Orlando, where the triangle is there is what looks like a ‘2’ on the sign. My theories on what it could mean are:

1) It means the pieces should be looked at as a 2 dimensional image

2) It means the triangle should be used twice

3) Maybe some kind of placement order?

4) I’m completely wrong and making too much of a random mark

Don't feel bad, Rift... every random mark either has meaning or doesn't, that's what makes our heads hurt.

Well we have all the pieces to the puzzle, so let's try to solve it.

We have the 4 triangles, and we seem to have them in the right configuration. At least all of the lines match up.

Mike says that the diagrams look like neural network diagrams that he has seen before, and that they remind him of this University of Toronto graduate of Computer Sciences who was a musician, that he had written a predictive algorithm that would write Miles Davis music - or at least it would predict the 10th note when given the first 9 notes up to 99% accuracy.

It's tangible to assume that whoever is hiding the cameras for us to find and is telling us to send them to Enitech and knows that Mike would be processing them - so any potential hidden message in the photos would be something that Mike would recognize. So it's very likely that the reason why it reminds Mike of this grad student studies is because it's supposed to.

Stephen Cook is the professor that is head of the department of computer studies at University of Toronto. On his UoT page it lists his most recent PHD gradates as well as current students. One of the classes of particular interest is Algorithm Design and Analysis. I've reviewed all of the student's publications, but there's a lot of content and I could have missed something. I came up short, sorry.

This thing's given me nightmares of the Ohm triangle and venn diagrams.

I have a feeling that what we're looking for is not a current student of Dr Cook, but perhaps a student who has already graduated. The program that Mike described sounded to me like a graduate project being done in an attempt to get a degree. So we might actually be looking for a former student, someone who was once connected to Dr Cook at the U of T and has moved on.

I agree that if we are looking for anyone at all at UoT they are probably not a current student. However, his reference to UoT might have just been added to help put some backing behind his claim that the triangles are a map of a neural network. I don't know... but the UoT might be a bum lead.

However, I have been thinking about the other video where it said "The Turk is not dead". Enitech told us that those flashing words were not added by enitech but by someone else. Maybe the resistance. Maybe this neural network we have is actually the diagram for the turk. It could be the precursor to SkyNet. However, that doesn't really help us know what to do at this point.

I was thinking it might be related to the turk as well... but as you say, that doesn't really help us.

I showed the diagram to a guy who works with computers (he's not into the ARG) and he said it reminded him of stuff he used to map when he was working on his degree, but he couldn't tell too much more than that.

I don't have the foggiest idea what we're supposed to do with the four triangle pieces... are we supposed to build it? I might sound like an idiot, but I don't know enough about computers/algorhythms/etc to have any idea what to do now. I think that the Resistance might have to give us a bit of a hint here.
