Could it be that the speaker does not WANT to reveal the truth yet?
quite possibly - but in which case that position also makes the rest of its answers suspect.
If it isn't Revealing the Truth, then why assume anything it has said is true?
I'm just recommending a healthy dose of suspicion is all.

As seen in First Strike, a Covenant AI conatins valuble infomation, such as accurate translation software. Perhaps the AI was taken so they could better understand the messages, or used the AI to decode them.
Worth a thought.
Translation software is a good point actually. For actually operating (Breaking into Covenant networks etc) a Smart AI wouldn't need Covenant AI help, but understanding the communication etc.

Isn't there suposed to be "reveal the truth" after "behold the truth"?
That's what I just said. One would expect there to have been a 'reveal the truth'. But in the killer.jpg answer, there wasn't.

Perhaps you are the Pious Flea

Seek the truth
Behold the truth

I'm not sure how much we can read into the killer.jpg texts, to be honest: as I said before, they sound like the kind of thing you'd get if you fed the emails into a MegaHAL-like program and then asked it some questions. It could be that we're dealing with a "new" AI, or an extremely simple AI which, until now, has had no cause to try and communicate with a human (one whose role has previously been something fairly mundane and system internal, perhaps?)
(which, I suppose, lends some weight to the idea that we're Pious Flea, whatever the hell that might turn out to be...)

Wait a minute... I was just thinking, the killer.jpgs... they aren't just responding to ladybee777.
Heck, I don't know that they are responding to that at all.
Look at the questions:
"We need to know about your parents"
Who'd ask Aunt Margaret about her parents?
"what happened? I see you are seeking help."
Aunt M wasn't seeking help... dana was. M was in trouble, but she's never directly asked anyone for anything.
the rest of the questions are ambiguous (could've been reasonably sent to either Margaret or Dana), but those two stuck out. Particularly since Dana herself responded on her blog with regards to repeated inquiries into her family situation.

Several people sent email to ladybee777 after the first strange email from it. At that point, it was apparent that the mailbox had been repurposed by something. People were trying to talk to whatever it is behind the repurposing.
So there were several emails sent that referenced "parents" because of the "voodoo parents" lines and also some that referenced wanting to help whatever it was that was trying to communicate. Wow, that was a run-on sentence.

sorry dude, just check out the all-knowing Wiki and read it thoroughly, then look around at some of these other threads
trout doesn't mean something's WRONG... just... you're repeating something that's been talked about to death (plus, its been pretty much ruled out that Cortana is NOT a part of this... yet at least)

Another theory on SP - I don't have access to the Halo books, but I seem to remember that one of the characters (I think it was Kelly) was badly injured and sealed in a cryogenic chamber (glass coffin?). Could she be the Sleeping Princess?
Going further out on the speculation limb, could Kelly, like the Master Chief, have a neural socket to join with an AI? If so, maybe this is the genesis of the shared mind that we are seeing, rather than rampancy...
Make any sense?

we've considered that too but it's obvious that everything happening in the fable is happening on the computer.

Ahh - my first trouting. Yep, I see what you mean - and I don't think there is any precedence for that kind of a link to transfer the human half's awareness into the AI - it seems like the closest thing to that is the initial mental pattern from a human which an AI is based on, and it doesn't make sense that Kelly would be imaged in that condition.
Of course the fact that some kind of time travel seems to have taken place as well is pretty out there, too, so I am trying to keep an open mind.
Thanks for being gentle with the fish, Samari.

*Novel Spoiler*
Possible, but the Spartan in the cryo chamber is revived in First Strike.
As far as I know, all the Spartans have the neural socket, but the MC was the only one with an AI.

A neat little reference to the Cloudmakers here (I've been reading their logs)
Aurora is an AI that runs a sleep clinic in that game.
Aurora is a character in a Disney movie...she's known as Sleeping Beauty, or the Sleeping Princess.
You can find the note pointing this out if you search for aurora on this page:
