[SPEC] Cloverfield II so at this point there is nearly a 100% chance of a sequel to Cloverfield. But lets not delve into the plot or try to figure out the story, since we probably won't be able to. But what do we think the new movie will be called? if its another film of the same night it wouldn't be another case designate, they would still be using the Cloverfield designate.
I'm thinking it might just be Cloverfield II
what about the tagline or the poster?
If I was making it I'd use a different shot of the Manhattan skyline in ruins, and the tagline would be "The night isn't over."
thoughts?

If it's supposed to be "official DoD property," I doubt it would be "II" or "2". Maybe "Cloverfield: Tape B," (or 1a, etc...)
The problem is if they want it to be realistic, they've screwed themselves over. The original plan was to have each tape documenting the night labeled with where it was found. So this tape would have been labeled "Greyshot", being found under the Greyshot bridge in Central Park. Then, TJ Miller got drunk at a bar one night and leaked the codename "Cloverfield" to a friend (cf. Letterman.) Now, they're stuck with a vague nickname for Central Park, with no reason for not just labeling it Central Park, and without the possibility of specifying where in Central Park it was.
The most realistic approach would be to call it "401 Broadway" or "Brooklyn Bridge", but then no-one would know that it's a Cloverfield sequel. So it has to have been found in Central Park, marketing-wise.
I'd go with "Cloverfield: Tape B," if it was me.

I dont think "Cloverfield" was a nickname for Central Park, I seem to remember some interview or other with JJ saying it was a temporary name given the movie, after the street outside his office, but when it got leaked they couldn't change it.

Cloverfield is the case designate for the monster, not a nickname for central park.

... OOG the name came from a street the studio was on or something. IG it's the case designate we were seeing, the monster or the attack itself could have been "case designate cloverfield." If it's the monster's name, then the sequel will probably be the name of the other one.

I think "It's Still Alive" is pretty obvious.

I hope its more inventive then "Cloverfield"...I never liked the name and I still think the producers copped out when they could have come up with something original which captured the spirit of the movie.
I also think the name hurt its box office receipts somewhat. To the casual moviegoer it sounds like a movie that would be similar to "Atonement".

I like the name Cloverfield becasue we fans are what named it basiclly, Even if they weren't going to originally call it that. Although 'Greyshot' wouldn't of been bad either, It shows how much they've been watching how we are reacting it. I don't think any other producer or director would do that.

I'm sure Abrams will come up with a good idea for another name... maybe even tying it in to Tagurato, or another military code name for an operation (ala Desert Shield/Desert Storm). The possibilities are endless.
