Think yourself lucky Rogi. When I panic, there's no such thing as a Edit button Laughing
Anyway, I'm up for IRC. I've spent a lot of time in it.
Anyway, still working on getting the summary up to date on the Wiki.
If you're interested I could put a page on the wiki detailing how to set up and use IRC for those who are unfamiliar with it. I know enough about it to set up at least a half-decent guide.

The easiest way is to go here:
http://www.chat-solutions.org/chat/unfiction.html
(You'll need to install the Java Runtime Environment if you don't already have it)
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

and when you're in the main room type:
/nick [what you want to be called]

i.e.:
/nick natas
(Don't forget to say, "Hi" while you're in the main room.) Wink

then:
/join [channel]

i.e.:
/join #ophiuchus

EDIT: Just saw highwind767's comment.
Go for it.

Heh, before I forget, Recruit169 is actually sitting in an OOG chat on Skype and has been since earlier today. Still offline though. I just find it hilarious that an IG character is sitting in a group chat where even the topic says it's for participants in the game Laughing

Anyway, I'll try to set up a Wiki page for IRC listing some of the different methods (Like clients, or the Java chat) how to join the right server and channel, some basic commands (Nick, nickserv if the server has it, /me, etc) and anything else that I can think of.

EDIT: Wiki is now currently up to date on events, and work on the IRC page will begin tomorrow. Mostly because I need sleep, but also because I got a tooth out today and my mouth is aching. But I'm in a time zone which is before most of you guys, so it should be up well before anyone actually notices.

If I get time I'll add to this as well. I used mIRC a lot in my youth (I'm totally old. Razz) so I can probably answer questions about it.

Rogi, do you have the list of phobias still, so I can add it to the wiki? if not , cool, I'll just do the work.

Updated the earlier post... again. Wink
I can't find a phobia meaning "Fear of fear" (phobophobia) that begins with an "f".

Hi... Just a random lurker that's been following this thread.

Just wanted to say that I think that phobophobia can be assumed to be correct. As in ph = f when being pronounced.

I was just spoofin' on myself about the editing.
No need for special credit.

UPDATE:[Recruit169][Participant13isdead]--><

I think "participantthirteenisdead" is the intended keyword for the second vignere encryption instead of "participantthirteeni" (They both give the same decryption). So, maybe the password RF169 has been wanting is "participanthirteenisdead". I know this is late and probably is a moot point, but just throwing it out there.

I'll have at least some of a guide up later. Can't now due to being in class.
Had some good times and some bad times in IRC back when I was playing Iris (Before I joined uF I worked on the CI side of it)
I'll have to get a link of something pretty funny that happened during the end of that sometime Laughing
Anyway, "participantthirteenisdead" seems right. You're just 2 days too late with it Very Happy

Which Skype chat was that, highwind? Was that the one that I started earlier?

WOW! Ya go to work for a few days and you lose track of everything. Today's my 21st birthday, so I'll not be back till at least tomorrow, but I had some thoughts I wanted to share for those ambitious enough to contact R169.

I promise I am a credible source on the subject, as BS is pretty much all I'm good at. When bluffing against a PM, this one in particular, the worst thing you can do is act like you know what's going on when in truth you don't. Saying you have the password handy, though good in theory, is very obvious false to anyone else reading it. I'm not attempting to toot my own horn here, but read back to my transcript. I got a hold of a number through the proper channels, and I did it all through complete ignorance. Yes, it was based in a lie, but I didn't pretend for even a second that I was in the loop, and it's very hard to look like you belong when you don't. My suggestion is that you play it fast and loose, let it flow, but make sure you're not being too obviously deceitful. We're here to play the game, not borderline hijack it from the PMs .

Also, I think we should designate a few people in particular to talk to real time with R169. It's not a matter of talent or anything like that, it's mostly that if everyone under the sun starts ravaging him with IMs, it's going to take away from the other discussions he's having with us and bog him down, not to mention look horribly suspicious. Remember that while this IS an ARG, meaning everyone is welcome to play, we should also remember that for all intents and purposes it's real when IG. And IG, if r169 gets an influx of people claiming they 'misplaces their passwords' then we're going to get security lockdown'd pretty quick.

Just my two cents.

First of all, happy birthday. And to respond to your post... I think everyone is doing just fine at the pace we are going without having to designate people to interact. The PM is doing a fine job of talking to whom he wishes also. I think we ought to not fix what isn't broken. I'm pretty sure the security lockdowns were already planned out.
