I hope this turns into something I really do. Perhaps we'll see some other viral sites turn up. Maybe some-in game viral sites from our time, for companies that are developing technology that will eventually lead to the design and construction of the NCC-1701.

Probably not, but ya never know.

This kind of thing is what I was referring to when it comes to Tagruato.

What about that plastics company in ST:IV? Scotty gave him the recipe for transparent aluminum. Has to have been a catalyst for something worth millions and growth of an industry.

However, upcoming Third World War and the Eugenics War probably sent everyone on earth back a bit.

Yeah, but you also said, "Could Tagruato/Bold Futura tie into Trek XI?" which would imply a link connecting Cloverfield and Star Trek.

Ok, perhaps not tie directly into the movie, but Tagrato seem to have hinted at the technological achievements that would lead to the 23rd century Star Trek universe. So, what I think I'm saying is those quotes from Tagruato are cheeky little winks to the forthcoming movie. Teleportation, new energy sources, humanity expanding into space, warp-speed etc etc.

Ok, so I lied about the last one Razz

From Tagruato:
Investor News
Tagruato Launches First Satellite

"The future of man depends on our ability to spread outwards into the universe. At Tagruato, we want to be the first to take you there," Yoshida added.
------

Tagruato Headlines:
Hatsui Satellite Works for the Futura

"Future plans for the Bold Futura space program are still under wraps. Although with the success of Hatsui and ample funds dedicated to development and galactic research, it is certain to be big. Added Yoshida, "Our first step into space was a triumphant one. Our next will be unforgettable."

Knowing JJA's style....I'll bet Kirk's best friend from grade school friend is Ganu's great great great great grandson.
And the whales from TrekIV really came to Earth for the DSN. Rolling Eyes

Tag/BoldF could still be around in the future.
Look at 'The Hudson's Bay Company'.
They began in 1670, and are still doing business today. Wink

Not laughing. I was maid of honor in a wedding on the bridge of the Enterprise, TNG version. The best man was a Ferengi. It was fun!

Boy, am I glad to 1) get through 13 pages of this thread, and
2) find this thread!

I like both Star Trek and Star Wars (but probably more of a SW-head, including the expanded universe), but I am looking forward to this movie, and the ARG/ARE/VM that will go with it. This is a great start - I think we'll have a bit more to chew on as time goes by.

Maybe so, but the mystery of MGP in the 21st century would have been solved by the time Enterprise 1 sets sail in the 23rd, dontcha think?

Alright, Alright, people. How's about we bring this thread back to Star Trek, and leave Cloverfield in the Cloverfield section (polite suggestion....).

booo... but hey, with the extra time, it means potentially better things right? I'm particularly happy about this news.

The reason for the delay seems to be good - less competition, better success. Though I'm sure there's more to it than that...
