I also noticed that the flash object is loading content from http://k4x3693d66.net/ but I get the standard IE can't find page error accessing that site.

Well... that would be all if I wasn't using Firefox.

So they created their own error page to mimick the IE error page, and used it as their index page.

I tried access /images/ on that server, and got a forbidden message.

In the Apache error it lists www.whoknowsanything.com as the web address. I tried that URL but it doesn't work.

And... that IS a valid error page.

So we're looking at a US military satellite thats tracking aircraft, correct?
And the CAV units are actually UAV's ?

And Thunder Mountain is the following site correct? I remember looking at this site awhile back.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavalier_Air_Force_Station

What unanswered questions are there at the moment?

I just got home and am trying desperately to catch up.

Military Symbols on Map

Guys, heres a link that will show you the meaning of the various symbols on the REDEYE map. Armor, Infantry, Artillery, etc.

Speculation

If this is supposed to be live feed that we are viewing, then am I right in speculating we are seeing some combat going on here on the map? A lot of military units moving around, some converging on certain targets?

Also a longshot for the smarter people here, could the web address be a code of some kind? It seems to be just random characters that I can see right now.

Where's the feed?

And the website in an error message posted a few lines up might be something, but the text you see in the error messages can be manually defined (by the ServerName directive in the Apache config file), so the website could either mean something or just be a random thing they put there.

I am referring to http://redeye.kppldlz9oo.info/ as a supposed live feed. It looks like satellite imagery that was supposed to be going on in real Jericho time so I referred to it as a live feed.

I didn't know if kppldlz9oo looked like a code of some kind so I just wanted to throw it out there. Codes are not my strength and no one else put that forward so i thought I would try. Thanks for the explanation.

Take a look at the bottom. They added a line to the error message:

Cannot find server or DNS Error
Internet Explorer v1.0 Post Impact filter

So the Internet's being filtered in the new America?[/b]

Yeah, it most defineately is a live feed although I'm not sure if we are seeing any combat at this point. I don't see any symbols that would suggest the location of any enemy units which should be there.

At his point it suggests that the units, such as the 3rd ACR, are moving east to gain control.

We know from ep22 that the area around Hastings was hostile with marauders in the area but outside of that I'm not sure.

The Army appears to have set up FOB's which are Forward Operating Bases. An example of such would be Camp Liberty as seen in ep22.

Ah! Yes, when the electricity came back on after the nuclear attacks, they found that all IP Addresses were being filtered when they tried to access web based email.

Hawkins, however, has a way around this (not that we're ever told how).

Didn't he use the code on his credit card as a code to bypass the filter? I'm a fan of the show Smile

Oh, I think you're right.. let's see *skimskim* episode 5, right before the EMP hit.

Quote:
Hawkins sets up a portable satellite transceiver in his backyard, to which he connects his laptop. With the "EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM PLEASE STAND BY" message showing on his screen, he types a string of invisible characters to access a login prompt. He takes out his America Express charge card, turns it upside down, and apparently reads it as he types an ID into the prompt. This bypasses the IP block and accesses a web page written in Turkish. He then inputs what seems to be an IP address into another window.

D'oh. Your Jericho-fu is stronger than mine!

minor edit: Hnn, I think there was a kerfuffle on the cbs boards that the Turkish site had some errors in it that made it look like it wasn't really Turkish.. but I'm way off topic here c_C

More like a feed from an AWACS

Yeah, gotcha, it seems like the "Blue Force Tracker" system.

In one of the Ravenwood links General Dynamics is mentioned. They are the creators of the system. This helps explain it alot.

From Wikipedia

Quote:
Charge card

Robert Hawkins' charge card resembles an American Express Centurion Card, except it says "America" instead of "American". The card number is 5732 077651 79032, CCN: 0965, with an expiration date of November, 2008. When read upside down, the card number could be read as "ZE06L TS9LLO ZELS". It isn't clear what Hawkins was looking at when he read the card upside down, since the ID that he enters at the prompt is "*7oij9r" (the first character could be an "8" or a "B").

[edit] Webpage

Hawkins accesses a webpage with a password on his credit card. This site resembles the Turkish MSN web site [1]. The text that is visible on the page to be a mix of Cyrillic characters and an unspecified Turkish dialect. Analysis of a screen capture reveals the following:

* Two words appear in large bold Cyrillic within the text of the page:

ЧК (the Cyrillic letters "che" and "ka"; the Cheka was the Russian secret police formed by Lenin in 1917.
ВЕСТОЧКА (translated "message")

* A Turkish banner appears at the top of the page; it reads in part, "Kişisel Bilgilerinizi Koruyun!", which translates to "Protect Your Personal Information!".

* Another section on the right side of the web page reads "Haftanın Güzeli: Renata Ramos" which translates as "Beauty of the Week: Renata Ramos".

* Another section reads as a section dedicated to MSN Messenger, and has a set of four bulleted links. The third link refers to accessing web camera Messenger connections.

[edit] IP addresses

It also should be noted that near the beginning of the episode, Skylar Stevens attempts to access the internet on a laptop at a cafe, and tries an IP address, which appears to be 827.750.304.001. The IP address is invalid, as three fields go above the 255 limit. This may be to provide Hollywood-safe IP's, much in the way they use 555 as the prefix for phone numbers and fictitious domain names.

At the end of the episode Robert Hawkins appears to be accessing an internet server with an IP address whose first three octets are 29.203.38 and the last is not shown. The IP block of 29.0.0.0 - 29.255.255.255 is owned by the Defense Information Systems Agency, an agency of the Department of Defense according to ICANN
