[META] Suggestion to Admins, Moderators & others with po

Can we maybe organize these threads better somehow? Maybe by putting this all into these two categories: (and more as they become evident)

PHASE I (I Love Bees)

PHASE II (Network Throttling Eroded)

etc... that way, even with the same three categories deposited in each branch (general/updates, interactions, & puzzles), we can chronologically sort things? I don't know if that's possible, but it's what I would humbly reccomend, since the scope of this thing is maddening, (and more so with each phase).

Anyway, let me know if I can help. (I know the Wiki is meant to be that "more organized" force, and this is to be the breeding ground, but still... Bang Head

my humble opinion:

The chronology of the threads should follow the chronology of the game. If Phase I is complete, the threads which discuss it should drop off the bottom of the list naturally. If something important in Phase I comes into play or is revisited in Phase II, naturally it might be bumped up to the top again (altho' I would prefer to see a new thread with a summary as a launching point for new insights).

Here's why I didn't suggest just that:

We don't know what we will need, info wise, later in the game...

(**edit - therefore, why "drop off" items and tidbits we may need later. although I have no problems with dropping Trouted threads, since that info is already doubled or proven incorrect anyway.)

However, Catherwood, I apologize for so quickly shooting this down. That was not my intention, since I DID ask for other suggestions. I am truly sorry. (And especially, after reading your bio and seeing an average of just about half a post a day, I appreciate you speaking up on this thread! Thanks!)

You didn't shoot anything down... Catherwood is right, and I seriously doubt the mods will change a thing.

I'm with catherwood.

Plus, sadly I'm afraid more categories would just make more places for OT posts. We've had a lot of things to look at, and frankly a proliferation of threads just due to the number of people with something to say. I think as we get more into the swing of it we'll find more focussed threads and the ability to avoid threads where random discussion has taken over (until they get locked and start falling down the list). So chin up, and let's let it run for longer.

no need to seperate.
besides, search and the wiki aren't going anywhere.
threads that 'fall off' due newer info aren't lost.

I'm with aliendial.

Right now we've got a lot of people (H*lo fans and ARG fans alike) very excited about this game; however, we've got two websites to work with, a handful of characters, and maybe one or two unsolved, possible puzzles. With large influx of very enthusiastic n00bs and the growing anticipation of the oldbies who have been waiting for another game of this scale, this place is just a breeding ground for wild SPEC from a whole lot of people with not much to do. Once the game finally gets started, puzzles start popping up, and the story begins to develope, we'll all settle down.

At this point though, we're all chomping at the bit, desparate for something to happen. At least, I know I am. Wink

I think that is my biggest fear here, that while this was started (for the general public) by a Halo 2 trailer, they weren't ready for this large of a base of players, and that they'll never be able to put out enough puzzle for us to really have a hard time figuring out*. I'm not complaining AT ALL, but I am just voicing that opinion that potentially, this was meant to be Beast-quality gaming, and that the reason we're over spec-ing and chomping at the bit, is because there's too many good minds on this one, and they're not giving out enough content to truly satisfy this large crowd. (I mean, newbies or not, I'd say a good 75% of posters here are truly the analytical type who would really give it a go anyway, and the other 25% were curious fanboys who just wanted to see when the demo comes out, or were hoping to get a better picture of the new vehicles in the game... Laughing)

*for clarification, I don't consider a puzzle that we have no way of solving without another slew of updates to be a true puzzle anyway, since it's really just someone guiding you by the hand then anyway...

Hehe... that's a good one, Varin. I can't say I wholly blame them, but I also think if we put a pimly, fat, late forty-something woman up there they'd be sayin the same things, ya know what I mean? I think that it's a woman in a game world at all that's the attraction... what a world.... Rolling Eyes
