BTW, what is a Meta?

That's actually a much bigger question than one would imagine.

Technically, "meta" is a Greek word prefix equating to the Latin, "post".

But the term has come to encompass much more than that.

In this context, I meant it as a possible 2nd half to a puzzle or a puzzle within a puzzle. Usually a meta puzzle is composed by combining some or all of the smaller puzzles/their solves in a larger pool into a single, secondary puzzle.

If you check Google's define for "meta", you'll see what I mean about many different uses. I meant essentially, this one.

You'll also see lots of "meta discussions" about games on these boards, usually in a thread tagged as [Meta]. That usage is akin to the term metadata or "data about data" In this case, though, it's a discussion about the game AS a game. Our more recent posts have gone a little meta as we're not talking about the story and characters as much as we are about sites , PM activities and such.

ETA: When in doubt go to the Glossary, where Sin Vraal uses this definition of "metapuzzle".

Well, tonight we have:
Quote:
yrvithxtgreei.nee
on the normal page

In DDoS source:
Quote:
nodoooeciwk'dnDilr

EDIT: And this was also on the DDoS page's source when refreshed:
Quote:
duetnteinowrogaKl

EDIT2: And from lining them up Rogi got:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
nd your devotion to the exciting work we're doing Dani Keller

Put all three in this order:
Code:
 duetnteinowrogaKl
 yrvithxtgreei.nee
nodoooeciwk'dnDilr

Then rotate through the letters from top down. You get:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
nd your devotion to the exciting work we're doing Dani Keller

Or a completed (I think) message of:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Participants should be warned external forces are trying to compromise the integrity of project Ophiuchus.
Thankfully past attempts have been unsuccessful and our servers have managed to withstand multiple denial of service attacks.
However, the predicted success of phase has decreased to 0.45.
Participants are to continue with their duties until notified.
Contingencies are being made against future acts of corporate espionage and it's saddening to think that such acts are conceivable.
I'd like to personally thank you all for your patience during this testing time and your devotion to the exciting work we're doing.

Dani Keller.

We'll give it until Wednesday.
This DDoS thing has us pretty tied up.
Like I said, contingencies are being made.

I refreshed the page and this appeared:

Yes, it's new info on this thread but most of the discussion has taken place on IRC chat....
They have already solved 2nites code and it's posted on the wiki.

From the looks of it, I'd say it sounds like a movie. Or maybe a musical group. But neither Wikipedia nor Google brought up anything interesting, except for some Dany Kay's facebook profile, which may or may not be the Dany Kay of this site.

Ah, don't worry! Trout is a compliment. Basically, it means that your work is appreciated and valuable, but has already been done elsewhere.

All contributions are worthwhile. Smile

BTW, less than 3 hours left!

Um...three hours til' what exactly? Because I've read the whole wiki on this, and I'm all up to date, but I'm a bit confused...

(Also, thank you, it's just I got excited because I thought I had something new and valuable. But whatever...)
