The object of discussion is a bit ironic here...

"Assless chaps" is a bit like saying "roofless convertible". Chaps only cover the front of your legs. They are meant for wading or riding through heavy brush, and most people don't ride horses or go bushwhacking backwards.

I think a slightly more subtle approach might be wise next time.

More on Mr. Sn4tchbuckl3r, doing a google search and passing all the you suck at photoshop video references, we get a link to a board where sn4tchbuckl3r (the real one?) has been posting. Is a message board called "the wasteland" and he is listed as a she, and has 1839 posts, registered on Aug 7, 2005, 2:31pm. That seems OOG but the last post is on a thread by the title "Is World of Warcraft evil?" (on the 5th february I think). Google also links me to this board http://www.okgamers.com/forums/index.php?topic=960.45 but i can't find our friend there.
No email answers also.

My second post... horray. (first post was as a guest "AwaitingVerification" as my email servers lagged the activation link.

Anyway, I took the liberty of doing some more research on the domain itself (Phebco). Looking at the fact that all of the mail addresses were @ phebco.com, I did a lookup on the phebco.com domain for the mx records. (Mail exchanger)

You do this from an nslookup prompt on a windows box, by using the set query=mx command and then feeding in the domain. it returned :
phebco.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail.phebco.com

Wondering if I could send emails via telnet on their server (not hacking I assure you, a very valid and ethical way to send emails, although some find it laborious), I tried telneting to their box, but on connection to port 25, it returned no prompt, and when I issued my HELO, nothing... it was acting as if I telnetted into a webserver.

Sooo, I fired up IE and http browsed to mail.phebco.com and it brought me to a page which is titled :
"You made it to Phat Like Orson Welles."

The text there is simple, "Phat like Orson Welles. Com. For real."
Nothing in the source, nothing else of value anywhere.

Googled the phrase, and they have a domain which also terminates at the same page: http://phatlikeorsonwelles.com


So is this coincidence that they terminated their mx record on the same page they have a domain on, or maybe have I stumbled onto something?

I'm starting to wonder if this is just viral marketing for Big Fat Brain. They seem to be the media/web designers behind MyDamnChannel, which seems to be a site for comedy videos, viral bits, etc. Anyway, on the site there was an episode of something called "Tim after Tim" sponsored by Phebco. The video itself stops being funny pretty quickly, but in addition to a Phebco "commercial," the video is interrupted in places by the message "I AM PHEBCO."

It might be. I mean...its gotten really slow over the past few days, maybe they've accomplished their purpose of pimping two of their shows? (Assuming You Suck at Photoshop is just a show, and not part of some larger viral game).

My other theory is maybe this is just a pre-ARG/Viral campaign. Previous posts have already pointed out that the number/date 3-10-08 is used a lot on the new Phebco.com page, so maybe we just need to wait until then.

I hope not though...I still want to hear back from Donnie/PhebcoBot soon

I saw You Sucjk at Photoshop the other day and thought "this reminds me of an arg" which brought me back to unforums (it's been awhile)

anyways...I have no revelations, but a few geography notes.

I google mapped The city/state/zip from the address in Donnie's automated email. which shows

Bullittsville (where Donnie had to go for his safety business trip thingy) is a small hick town 3 miles from North of Burlington and it is only about 21 minutes from the address given by Donnie.

Donnie's boss says "I need you to book a flight" and there IS the Cincinnati Norhtern KY International Airport right beside Bullittsville...but since the address in the email is only 22 minutes away...a) They are talking about a different Bullittsville or b) The office that episode 5 takes place in is another, further away location.....not that it REALLY matters
