 		 [INTERVIEW] Unfiction ("you") Interviews Neville Page
Well kids, I'm lucky enough to have been granted an interview with Mr. Page regarding his Cloverfield Monster. I'll be emailing him a series of questions. If you have a question that you'd like to pose to Mr. Page, post it here. Additionally, I've promised to spare him stupid questions and make it as painless as possible. Stupid and painful questions would include those that he obviously can't answer and those whose answers are already known. So in addition to posing your own question(s), please feel free to critique the questions posed by others for stupidity and/or painfulness.

I'll keep watch on this thread while I work on my questions and select the best of the best for submission to Mr. Page. If I use your question, it will be posed as coming from you. Please do your best to keep this thread tight and passion free.

Time is of the essence. Assume you have until Monday, 5:00 p.m. PST to throw your question(s) into the hat. With that in mind, do alert your favorite Cloverheads.

I leave this thread to its own devices. I will read it very closely, but otherwise my priority will be composing questions, not answering them (read: this is a big deal to me). I think you have earned the opportunity, and I think you are the best people to do this interview. Please prove me right.

What were some of the inspirations for this creature? Obviously he looked to godzilla and whatnot for some references, but since this creature was largely aquatic, i'm wondering what all were the animals that he referenced to create this beast.

Hopefully that's not a stupid and/or painful question Embarassed

Did Mr. Page create (or have a hand in creating) the parasites?

(Ya know, I have a feeling the above question sucks.)

My next question is: When coming up with the initial and/or the final designs for the creature did Mr. Page have some human elements in mind that he incorporated into the creature?

 		Very cool, thanks for allowing us to be a part of it. I know a few of these he may not be able to answer since he is only the designer of MGP.

What does he call the monster?

What does he think of our MGP nickname?

Is he aware that some of our UF friends have actually classified the creature?

How much larger will the monster get if it is in fact a baby?

Will it's features change the older it gets?

What are the abilities the monster has that were not seen in the film?

Are the appendages suckers as some on UF believe or are they just small arms used to feed itself with?

Why are it's arms so long?

Is it from space or from earth?

 		Is it alive? Or a lion? Razz..Jokes aside...

Somewhere along the way I read that Mr. Page developed the monster as if it were a real creature, meaning everything on it had a purpose...It didn't just have something for no reason...This said...

Are the things on it's head really just a weird lung/gill organ, or something completely different altogether?

(Repeat) What are the things on the monsters abdomen for?

(If he knows this, doubt he does) What relation does the satellite seen at the end of the movie have to the monster, if any?

Does the monster have a vendetta against humanity? Or is it more of a 2000 Godzilla situation where the monster just defending itself?

How fast can the monster swim? (Follow-Up) What allows him to swim at that speed? (I remember this debate from an older thread)

How old is the monster? (Years? Months? Days?)[I understand you could consider this known, but a "baby" could be different among species. You could be a baby at 100 years if your species lives ten thousand]

Sure I will have more tomorrow after I am at school and tell everybody else about the interview they will have questions...

Hope you can use at least some of the questions above, Grats on the interview, It's really great, thanks for the opportunity to put my 2 cents in it.

BTW, my vote is he likes the nickname MGP

 		Sure our monster looks cool on screen (not so much as the toy...), but why put so much effort into making sure that everything on it had a purpose, and so was highly detailed?

I mean, we only saw it for a small fraction of the entire length of the movie, so we only needed to see so much...

Does this mean that we shall be seeing our monster again?

How explicit was the design brief supplied to Mr. Page from Bad robot/Paramount, were there strict guidelines to follow, or was Neville allowed full artistic licence and creative freedom with the conception of MGP...

Have you read what fans interpretations of the monster would like prior to release? And if so, what did you think?

Will there be a full rendering of the entire beast available at any point?

I don't participate around here anymore, but thought I'd drop a question.

I am interested in knowing the creative evolution of the creature, beyond the inspiration. Meaning, what kind of design changes occurred during development and why.

 		What direction did the Cloverfield team give you regarding the design of the monster... If any. Were there specific traits and abilities they requested, or was it left to your imagination? How many models were rejected before the final product was approved, and how late into production was is decided?
