[META] Is it common in ARG's to wait awhile between updates It's been a few days and it feels like a month. I'm sure this is me just being impatient but I am eager to find more and it seems like we are currently out of clues.
Do you think we'll be waiting 10 more days to hear anything else?
Please pardon my overzealousness.

Great post! I'm curious to find the answer on this as well. I mean, I know it's not ending or something, that we're still just waiting, but is this a tell-tale sign of what kind of experience we'll have down the line, or is it "just warming up"?
(*edit - although, Atoner, in all fairness, we haven't waited 10 days for something new yet... I think this is the first (maybe second) day where nothing has happened yet...)

I think they are planning on setting the game on the metaphorical back burner for a moment. Let all of us simmer in speculation and let some new recruits get caught up enough to be useful for when it really starts going.
I'm really not expecting to wait until the countdown for an update though.

Agreed. I'm not really complaining, I am just curious as to what to expect. Maybe there's not even any reasonable expectations to make besides extrapolating from previous games of this type.

That's what's so odd about this period. I think we've made all the useful speculation we can given the truly limited amount of data we currently have, so the specs keep getting wilder and less useful.

That's a relief.

It's been just over 24 hours . Not every update can be new puzzles, some are just storyline.

Don't know about you guys but this has come to a complete stop and has suddenly got very boring, if theres nothing new up soon I'll be back in a few weeks when there will be some new stuff to ponder over.

Another likely scenario... If the people behind this are the same team that had puppetmastered (new verb?) the "A.I." game, they'd be prepared for players to burn through clues like water. Another likely scenario is there are arcane clues that we just haven't figured out yet (i.e. a new website), and they're waiting for our progress before they give us the next stage in the story.

[SPEC] Maybe its a sign. Like the game telling us to live life for the next 10 days instead of fretting over fanboys and mostly rehashed material.

While you might be overzealous here, it is definitely a stark contrast to the Beast which had something like 4 or 5 sites on launch, and grew fairly quickly. Opportunities, like password boxes, were presented rapidly. We have no leads here, because even if we collect all the data from the site and organise it properly, which is what is being done, no URLs are coming out, and plot development is slow. Best just to sit tight, it looks like the PMs are doing things differently this time round.

At this point it seems like all we can do is listen and wait for somehting new to come up. They must be givign time for people to go through all the information they have given, and giving time for new people to come in and get into it. It took me a couple of days of a good bit of reading to catch up on everything that is happening.

For the moment, I'm giving them a little room to wiggle here, but I'll be really disapointed if there isn't some type of development in the next few days. Had the last update been bigger (I was expecting at least one new site or character to show up after such a long period from launch) it wouldn't be that big a deal. The same can be said for this "trip to China" that was set for yesterday. That would have been a great chance to do...SOMETHING. Right now, it's like watching a hockey game where everyone's in the penalty box..
I know, I know..the game hasn't even been running long, but this really could be a good game if there was more to do..so far details have been sparse at best..:'(

[Rediculous Spec]
Perhaps the PMs are waiting for someone to... use the probe function.... and have a decrypt confidence of 100. yeah. that might be it.
I've got an Idea. I'll send a mail to ladybee777 with code instructions to connect and move to my server. that way the AI has a nice, 2.2ghz machine to sit on and fix herself.
Better than the abacus she's on? I think so. *nods*
In any event... the fact remains. We know little to Nothing about what (And more importantly when) Somethign is going to happen next.
[-M- Edit]
Added importance of "when"

It took the group that turned out to be Cloudmakers several weeks to even find the Jeanine Salla rabbit hole, and the poster with the letters circled was sent to Ain't It Cool News.
Can you imagine, not being a Cloudmaker, perhaps just some lonely dude who happened to Google J. Salla's name, and make all the right connections, sitting there for weeks, saying, "This is BORING, geez, where are the updates?"
Heh.
I remember there being lulls in the Beast, too (despite those 'famed' regular update days). Luckily, there was plenty of story to munch on (as well as trout, cooked up by infinite_monkey) to keep some of us sated, but I think it's almost downright natural to have spots of what feel like nothing, esp. with investigative group of this size and energy.
