Just in case there's more at the library than just the item, be sure to check it out, while there, for any additional clues. Like, if it's a USB drive, pop it into one of their computers to see what's on it.

good idea and maybe look inside the books. Something may have been put inside, but not likely.

On a side note is anyone going to fill Jason in on PO. He really want to know as per his last post.

I need to investigate more, but it'd be really great if you guys could tell me what you know. We're probably not going to get very far without that information.

Hoy, Pictishwitch's friend of a friend here... I live in Fort Worth (a short drive from Dallas) and don't have the work obstacle Llama has. I'll head over to the library tomorrow when it opens to investigate for you guys. Have a camera, a scanner at home, all that good stuff. I doubt a thumbdrive is wedged under there, but we'll see.

Just wondering - should I leave a post-it or something saying the clue has been found so if anyone comes to get it after me they won't be turning the library upside down looking for it? I'll check in here before I go anywhere just in case.

First ARG I've seen the forums for, and I'm looking forward to following this one if not being all that useful in it. XD I have a lot of free time on my hands at the moment and likely will for the next month or so, so any more clues get left around the metroplex, I'm your girl.

-Zii

PS Oh, and, posted a comment on the blog saying I would go to the library before I even knew the forums existed. Consider him informed, I guess. Razz

Is filling in Jason on PO a good idea?

Is Jason the "good guy" and PO the "bad guy"?

I posted more on this thought on the other thread.

Sorry for double post, but new fax on Locate:

Quote:
"Around Great Britain, EAST and WEST are several bridges - the very best. Maidenhead, Saltash, Clifton too. For what you're looking; Kingdom's blue."

And there's a number…"PT2662U3B613″.

It also says "Open Me (Drink Me)".

another library... this one in London?

Well, after the school system going down, I can finally get my post up.
Didn't get on yesterday, so I didn't get a chance to say. Could it be possible that this is the Project's undercover investigation on their missing recruits?
It could explain Jason's knowledge of PO, and perhaps when we showed the number 13 image, it sent some alarm bells ringing for Jason (Seeing as it's supposed to be secret) and he's gauging our knowledge of the Project.
I'll copy and paste to the other thread about this as well.

As for the other library, it could contain the other USB pen. The quote "Open Me (Drink Me)" sounds like Alice in Wonderland anyway.
And the image...Well, in the school it's messing up for me and getting all distorted, so I'll have to wait on that.

So... Here's what I've come up with.

PT2662U3B613 must be the number for the book seeing as how we can see "PT 2662" on the book in the first picture.

Maidenhead, Saltash, and Clifton are all bridges designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

So... Brunel University Library?

Collier's Junior Classics Book (#3) Magic In The Air.

Part of a 10 volume set where each volume contains several children's stories.

This one has:

THE ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO
ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND
THE BORROWERS
MISS HICKORY
WINNIE-THE-POOH
A CRIME WAVE IN THE BARNYARD
MISCHIEF IN FEZ
THE KING OF THE GOLDEN RIVER
MR. TOAD
THE MERMAIDS' LAGOON
TWENTY-ONE BALLOONS
THE OLD LADY'S BEDROOM

Personally, I'd look in the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland pages, first.

That call number (PT2662U3B613) shows up in only one of the libraries (Uxbridge). But it's a different title:
U-Boat by Lothar-Günther Buchheim

Maidenhead, Saltash, and Clifton are all bridges designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

So... Brunel University Library?

God damnit I KNEW IT WOULD HAPPEN!

I knew the answer before coming here this morning.

Clifton and Saltash are also Halls on campus (I used to room there last yr)

And you're right Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

MY University.

Wont be able to get it today though, but tomorrow for sure.

Yay! And I'm guessing Kingdom's blue also refers to the school colors?

That I'm actually NOT sure about lol... Even though I'm almost finished my 2nd year there haha!

But it does lead me to believe the suspicions I've had since the name of the person behind LMF.co.uk was revealed. - He's a former member of the University and is now a designer for a web company.

Emailed Jason an update:

Quote:
J,

We've got a couple of good people on the Dallas job; two of which have already volunteered to go today and grab whatever it is there.

As for the second fax? This one will be a little easier to obtain mate.

"Around Great Britain, EAST and WEST are several bridges - the very best. Maidenhead, Saltash, Clifton too. For what you're looking; Kingdom's blue." - It's Brunel University... My Uni.

Maidenhead, Saltash and Clifton were all bridges built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. - I'm not too sure about Maidenhead, but Saltash and Clifton are also names of Halls of residence on the Uni campus.

The only thing is, I don't have classes until tomorrow... Can we hold off until then? Or do you want me to bring in a trusted contact to retrieve it today?

-L

Edit: Oops just realised I double posted. I do that a lot :/

I've just gotten a horrible feeling now that this is going to be nothing to do w/ Brunel.

Rog said the call number referenced a different book on the Brunel Library catalogue and indeed, Rog was correct.

I've just searched high and low for the Collier's Junior Classic and can't find it at the library...

Sad

Edit: Ok now I'm confused... The University library seems to be the only one related to Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the UK... Although Bristol University has a Brunel collection but that's about the University.

I've just gotten off the phone to the library @ Brunel and they have that book nowhere in stock.

Possible the book was put INTO the library next to the "U-Boat" book? And that number was just there to give us the hint as to where to find it?

Brunel has 1 book pertaining to Junior Classics and it's this one.

Quote:
Author (Date) Kingsley, Charles (1819-1875)
Title The water babies
Statement of Responsibility edited by M.W. & G.Thomas ; illustrated by Margery Gill
Publisher Place (Year) London : Hutchinson Educational (1960)
Series Title Junior classics

ALTHOUGH... Jason just emailed me back.

Quote:
Hi Leyton,

I'm out and about investigating who sent those faxes at the moment. The only thing I can suggest is that if you know where the fax is pointing, to get there asap. I'm guessing there are other people looking for the same thing as us. Perhaps they're the kidnappers? Try your best, good luck!

J.

He didn't give any hint that Brunel wasn't the place... - I've got a contact on it at the moment.

EDIT - UPDATE:

I've just had a txt msg from my contact & sent Jason an email pertaining to this...

Quote:
J,

Retrieval of 2nd objective underway... Should have status report in 1hr. How're things going your way?

-L

D.P.L should be opening within 8 minutes. So maybe we'll get a report on that within 2hrs or so too.

Well, I'll be damned, it was a USB drive. Went to the library, found the right shelf (was misled by looking up Q is for Quantum and finding the copy across the room that could be checked out) and taped to the underside of it with electrical tape was a battered old thumbdrive. I'll post an edit in a moment with what's on it - wanted to go ahead and report that it's been retrieved.

Someone remind me what Jason's email is? I'll email him what's on it.
