yeah, Img=Ace is kinda not there, here's the full string for that:

line 11:
Ïmg=AcêüsµL

the I has an umlaut on it Embarassed

Edit:
use a text editor like Html-Kit or Editplus, that way you can call out line numbers to everyone for exacmination instead of searching blind

Edit:
dangit... 5:00, time to leave work and meet my fiance and parents for dinner... hopefully i can squeeze in some more time on this this weekend, just when its getting exciting!!!!!! Mad

the problem with strings in wav files is that it's hard to tell if that was intentional or just random byte paterns

I've not looked in the files personally; however, I've written .wav file loaders before. RIFF files (which is what .wavs are) are split into chunks; each chunk has a header, which contains a 4-byte ASCII identifier. It looks like these might be what you're finding - though as I say, I've not looked at the files myself. I'll dig out a hex editor tomorrow and have a poke through and see if they correspond to what I'd expect from a RIFF file.

Checking a few non-ilb wav files I have around, I found 'data' near the begining in all of them, and 'fact' just above it in several.

i thought that might be the case and those words are probably just file information, although that still doesn't explain why bea, cab, life, group, next, and coming are in there

Coincidence? Have a pseudo-random dataset large enough and you're bound to get some "words" appearing eventually. Typewriters, monkeys and all that.

i agree, but the frequency of words in that file is pretty high. there are a lot of total garbage strings that pop up but these definite stick out as odd.

This is just rampant speculation, but I've seen nothing else to go on, and for some reason it seems like the sound puzzle and the steg puzzle have been very segregated.

We've been searching for passcodes to enter into JPSeek now to no avail. We're looking around this huge group of information and can't find any codes. Nothing's worked, and there's a ton of us trying.

People know there's something up with the sound file, but can't find out what, and it seems that there's something odd going on in terms of garbage strings and whatnot.

So maybe there's a connection between the only puzzles we have left, yeah? Maybe these strings are possible codes for the steg picture. Worth a shot, right? So if someone could list everything we've found in the sound file, I could try entering them in the steg.

Anyone wanna try?

Might be troutish (real word?), but I at least made a search first. Any chance that combining any of the wav's might lead to something? I know there are at least the two on the site, plus whatever we've gotten from the voicemail. Perhaps they sound strange because they're stripped down. And I brought a fork in case I need to be served a trout.

agreed... I had the corrupted version for the piping wave, but did anyone find a corrupted version for the other one?

If we had them both it very possible could lead to a destegging answer. if not something completely different. (Like a dead end, for instance.)

*shrug*

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but I am pretty sure that the corrupted file is more of a practical joke or whatever. It's not even a proper wav file as it doesn't play on Winamp, WMP, or Soundforge. And comparing both files (corrupted version and the original from website), I looked at the file data (opening them in notepad) and the two files are the same except with a few words added in like 'life', 'group', and 'coming'. These words can be added to the file by anyone, and thus not in-game.

Well I guess I am just questioning the source of the corrupted file. It's definitely not from ILB.

Unless you can specify how the corrupted file was obtained from a known ILB site, the file is 100% fake. Not only does it not play as a wav file, but closer examination shows that it's actually an odd sort of concatenation of two different sound files.

You can strip out the added material (strings and code) to get the original queen piping sound. You can also take all the added code, put them together into a new wav file, and it's a 'thunk' noise, about a second long.

Downloading the sound files again from ILB produced several files that were all identical, none of which resembled this faked wav file.

So in my oppinion, that wav file is 100% fake.

*-M-, being his n00b self, feels stupid now.*

Yeah, I guess I should've checked my sources first. I don't even remember where I got that file... probably one of the forums I visited as I was first trying to collect all the data I could on this.

^^;

Wierd noise on this page: http://www.ilovebees.com/comatas.html not sure if you know about this or not. You probably do come to think of it if you have access to the page's sound files. If you did, how did you get access to the files anyway?
