woot woot! Very Happy I got a shout out from Anna for sending a warning message!

You don't think Skynet will figure out who I am, do you? There are only 2.4 million Americans with my name. Shocked

Uh, oh!

I have an idea: what if we play off each other? For example, one of us can state that we destroyed another one of us because ir was compormised by the Resistance?

Who wants to be terminated by me? Smile

Subtle. Don't worry, I won't be contacting SEN (or any other game entities) again. Lesson learnt.

Traitor

Has anyone identified Kerrisis as the traitor to the resistance yet? It would be only fair. And maybe it is necessary to "advance the plot."

You don't mind, right Kerrisis?

Meta-Rant:

To be honest, it's not like this kind of use of OOG info by a player IG to "advance the plot" is anything new. But it brings up a problem. Let's say I don't want my OOG chatter and attempts to keep other players informed to be used by another player to advance their own part in the story at the possible detriment of my own. My only recourse is to stop sharing information I've gotten.

So for example, I didn't really have to share the code I received. I could have used that to advance my own part in the story as much as I could. I didn't, though. (and not just because I'm not really playing).

I can't really fault the PMs for exploiting a turncoat. It's drama. And it lets them play with something apart from their own storyline. I'm starting to think that maybe UF isn't the best place to post about our own personal interactions with the game (whatever game it might be).

Back during ILB, hmrpita had a signficant interaction with the PMs. She and I posted about it on UF to inform other players. that knowledge was used by other players to tell an IG character what she'd done. Her later interactions with that IG character were made more difficult by that. I'm saying that the lesson that appears to come from this is that contrary to the general belief that sharing is of paramount importance in this community, it may not be in your best interests IG to do so.

To be honest, I'm tired of players using info from UF to further their own names IG.

I think I'm going to post this in the meta thread too to get some discussion going.

Even being relatively new to ARGs I can see the problems with this. I thought (and thankfully rightly so) that before I do anything that would directly affect the other players, such as naming them or using anything they found out, I would contact them privately to get their permission and opinions on things.

At any rate since this “traitor” business has indeed been brought in game I agree that it would be a good idea to resolve it by informing the Resistance before focusing on further advancements in the story.

Done.

I've been bumping up against this elsewhere this week as well. It's hard enough sometimes to even know what IG info to share with IG characters. If we can't share information OOG, then the forum is of no use.

To move forward, I've seen a pretty good implementation of the ideas proposed above. More on this in the near future hopefully.

I have a problem. In the last video, Anne's kinda cute... Especially when she said my name... I don't want her to die!

This is sort of where I'm going, still free from having been ratted out, I could be a Terminator and I could report successful kills on some of the people mentioned.

Same here since I technically never contacted Skynet as Rift. I only used other email addresses specifically designed for the game. All Skynet could/should know Rift as, is a member here at Unfiction.

likewise, I never even contacted Skynet, so having me named as a threat doesn't really change anything for me. It wasn't so much he ratted out people posing as T units as naming people working with the resistance. For me, my name should mean nothing to skynet unless I somehow get into contact with it or its ground units in some way. so *shrug*

It wasn't really me that found the cannister, it was my daughter who shall remain nameless.

I will gladly be terminated instead of her, though.

Bring it on. Twisted Evil

ETA: Seriously though, how is this supposed to work? What's the call to action, here?

I'm with thebruce on this one.
Having never contacted SkyNet, it's a "meh" moment.
I'm preferring to let my status with SN be "unknown".
The PMs will just have to keep this kind of thing in mind in the future.
Lessons learned, all around.
