yeah it was fibonnaci, but he was only one of the three statues shown. heres what somebody wrote on the flickr page:

Quote:
sack36 [deleted] says:
The three images look like they could be specific statues or paintings. Upper left could be one of these three: Laocoon, Dying Gaul, or Michelangelo's Captured Giants.

The upper right one is unfamiliar to me.

The bottom right one could be from the Sistine Chapel, Judgment Day.

Mincartaugh

do you think the pics of the statues in TDCs vid were just included for moody effect, or do you think this is a proper clue?

My guess is that last cipher "dpzivylmfjqfsvwr" will be decoded using vigenere and the password will be whatever move his opponent was using (invisible person playing chess in the video). I gotta look that up though. That was my first guess, but I only saw "opponent has the key" not fischer's.

Also what the heck is this: I guess it is Vixy.net. I've used that program before though and I've never seen this logo appear. Weird.

Sorry for the double post. I found on his website you can watch each move of a lot of his chess games.

There are a ton of them, but so far the only game I've found that has the same opening as in TDC's video (Fischer opens with the right knight, then the opponent mimics his moves) is Robert Fischer vs Max Pavey, 1956, Manhattan, NY. I thought this might be right also because the key is here was over a bridge in NY. But I tried maxpavey, max, paveymax, pavey and didnt get anything.

The last move in the video is a checkmate by black ( you can't really see either player) via "pawn promotion" or "queening".

Someone might try using the opening move notations to ROT the letters against. It sounds like Jab has the game needed, all we have to find is the notations from that game. Each chess move will be notated as in the example below.

Das Llama

Check wikipedia for what im talkin bout.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algebraic_chess_notation

Moves are generally written in one of two ways.

(1) written in two columns, as a white/black pair, preceded by the move number and a period:

1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Bb5 a6

(2) in text: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6.

I also found a couple other games that started out the same way: max pavey, popovych orest, stephan popel, r fauber, and m green. But Pavey was the only one in NY. And I dont think any of them end with that checkmate move in the video. There are over 800 games of Fischer's on that site, so this may take a while. And I don't even know if this is what the code really means.

I'm not sure if our code is regular vigenere, or like the vigenere the CM used last time. If it's like the Cm's version, you have to change the alphabet in cryptool (instead of ABC...Z it needs to be ZABC....Y). I also changed that program I made before, so you can use it to try different key ideas using the modified vigenere method. Here's the link.

Using chessgames.com, I sorted all of Fischer's games by that opening move, and since black wins, I guessed he was black. I went through a crapload of games, but I finally found one that matches exactly.

He played James T. Sherwin in NY in 1966

If you use this guys name "JamesTSherwin" as the key and the vigenere format the CM used in the last vid (you can test it with my program above you get:

Oh crap.. does anyone still have that secure kit desteg program? I got a new laptop and the website seems to be gone now...

edit: I did find it on download.com, though none of these pictures are stegged using that program (maybe tom had the same problem). There is some hidden text in the blog that says "infostego bmp" and there is a steg program called infostego at antiy.net.

I was looking into all this stuff you guys were, hehe. I was especially looking into the stuff that Das pointed out. I was trying to find a specific move that moved with the Knight first. Arggg I was just starting to go through his individual matches. Good going Nicole.

I think its the King's Indian defense. Also that first move of bringing out the king's knight is called something else. I will look that up again. I cant get this steg program to install on my laptop for some reason.

I was going through the matches too ! But I had the opening as the Reti opening. That page shows the same moves as reti and kings indian.

Lol heres the next clue I believe

The United States Attorney who prosecuted Sherwin was Rudi Giuliani.

Yeah thats what it was called, the reti opening. On that chess site it sorted his matches by his different opening styles, so I was going through each style to see what they looked like. Thats how it I figured out the kings one matched the video. Good catch about the prosecutor thing, I was assuming it was Fischer, didnt even think about Sherwin being indicted.

Has anyone been able to get the steg program to open these files? I tried changing the extensions to bmp but it gives me an error...

For the chessboard one, when I saved the image off the site I had to choose bmp, I guess just renaming it doesn't count Very Happy
