SPEC/SOURCE -- Halo 2 Site

I just got in to this last night, and have absorbed most of this. I realize this is a little out of the game, and I see we're in a bit of a stale period, so I thought I'd throw a wild, out of game spec at ya.

With all the connections to Microsoft/Halo has anyone bothered to break down the Halo 2 site? I tried searching for a thread about this and didn't find anything. The most obvious thing to look at is the Java when you first enter the site. The release date flashes up, but different letters/numbers come up in place of the date before it settles. Kinda hard to explain, but if anyone could slow it down, could be a clue from outside the game in there. Just a thought.

Yeah, can't make much out of it... broke down some of the "foreign" letters that were out of place...

I'm getting nothing out of that.

Thanks for taking the time to slow it down, though.

Yeah, I was looking into this earlier today... I was thinking maybe something on the Chinese H2 site, but there isn't one. Is there even an Xbox China site? Maybe it just isn't linked to from halo2.com.

Maybe we should be looking in official H2 coverage. Watch some of the videos, you'll see snippets of some of the characters in H2, maybe someone can tie them into something?

In my opinion it doesn't mean anything. I think it's just a fast srcoll through the alphabet and numbers 0 - 9 at random in synchronized columns to get to a programed stop point (November 9 in this case). I'll admit that it could be something, but honestly, how many times have you seen characters scroll like this (and don't count Matrix, I mean besides that) for an advertisement? Just my opinion though.

Like I said, things are getting a little stale in the game since there haven't been any updates recently, so I'm looking over all the Bungie/Halo stuff. Bungie's website is crawling with weird stuff, but it's all almost certainly unrelated, inside bungie jokes.

At least you're looking. I'm usually just giving my opinion/view of things, and most of the time being a sarcastic smart-ass. So for future reference, don't take anything I say offensively, or seriously for that matter.

Now that you mentioned it...the original Halo 2 trailer as well as the movie theatre trailer that kicked off the ILB thing contained a close up image of the master chief with the new battle rifle. On the rifle are some Chinese characters that no one's identified AFAIK.

Check out halo.bungie.net for their Halo 2 screenshots. It's in there and you'll know it when you see it.

We're talking about it in this thread. It might be interesting, but, in all honesty, it can't be too significant. Two characters, in Japanese or Chinese, can't be all too much.

Edited to fix link -veen
