I would think that in a genre that claims to be unique and innovative that people would be more interested in exploring the boundaries of the art and discussing meta issues that arise as opposed to simply dismissing something as being an effort to piss people off.
I am super curious as to why this would piss people off in the first place. Are people not interested in bending rules - making statements and delving into what it is that really defines our reality? Is that not the point of ARG's?
I am honestly (in a non-insulting-wanting-to-communicate-and-understand) curious if someone is pissed off by this concept - and if so why?
But then again that is just me - I love communication and I am always curious and wanting to discuss things...
But if no one ACTUALLY cares about that kinda thing I totally understand and that is cool
But none the less I will keep playing because I think the concept is cool

Isn't that what the whole META section is for? To discuss meta issues and concepts without overwhelming the game discussion (so that the actual players don't have to sift through more noise and no one can complain that negative opinions are hurting the game)?

This one actually amuses me enough to bring me out of my semi-exile from ARGs. I really hope this goes somewhere beyond just the general idea of "fuck TINAG" though.
As to the META issues, while I would normally say that these do belong in the META section, given that the intent of the game is to inspire such discussions, I do think there is a place for them in the game thread. Here's the key, though: This only works so long as people remain civil and the discussion does not become overly heated. If we start getting people that are angry and slinging insults, then there is a problem, but until then I think that the META discussions should be okay in the thread itself.

I agree that the game topic itself is encouraging Meta discussion. Where as I would usually agree that the Meta should remain in the designated places...

Civility went out the window when when the PM decided to make the senders name "Fuck TINAG". I understand the point, but the execution comes off as immature and crass. For those who were confused, this is why some see this as annoying or it pisses them off. To them, ARGs are an art and treating the subject manner in such a way is insulting.

Er...he's not saying "fuck anyone that likes TINAG" he's just saying "fuck TINAG" as in the philosophy itself. Much as I might say "fuck Dubya". I'm not saying "fuck anyone that likes Dubya" because plenty of perfectly cool people like him. I don't, however, so I would say "fuck Dubya" as an insult to him, not to his supporters.
Put another way: Some Christians might agree with the phrase, "Fuck the theory of evolution." That doesn't mean they are insulting the people that believe in said theory, it just means that they don't like it and are thus saying "fuck it". I don't think any malice was intended on the part of the PM, although I could be wrong.

ARG's are an art grounded in language. When you go base with the language, you devalue the art.
This isn't taking a position either way, merely an explanation.

Ah, I think I see what you mean. I just don't have as big a problem with the f-bomb, as it's a fairly regular part of my vocabulary IRL.

Most Christians that I know would never say the word , certainly not in a public forum, and many never even think the word in their head. (Whether or not they agree with the sentiment it expresses is a separate debate.) This forum itself used to foster a culture which frowned on the use of the word as being not-very-family-friendly. I can see that the growth of the population here as well as the evolution of language in the outside world has weakened the resolve of moderators to intervene.

I use it in that post primarily for the purposes of the example. Having said that, I think if the mods have a problem with the use of the word in the trailhead, that's a different issue than the one we were discussing and I would certainly understand if the mods decided they didn't want this one here.

First author rots to "smuge" or reverses to "eGums", neither a "real" member like the others. In the first topic i think the red letters may rot (25) to something, but on my screen i can't tell them apart.
Edit: or maybe not, looks like junk.

If this is an art form (which I believe it is) then shouldn't it fall under the freedom of expression? There is something going on in Canada right now where there is debate and possibly a law coming that will allow parliment to censor (and not support) films they deem to be 'damning' in some way. This takes away freedom of expression and freedom of speech and it is baffling to think it would even be suggested. Do we want another dark ages? Shall we up in arms and start burning books?
I don't see the expression of this GM as a devalue of art - but perhaps a call to question some of the meaning instilled in art - and I can see no problem with that. As long as people take it from a logical point of view - as opposed to an emotional one I think the topic can be an interesting one!
Thirdly - wow - those pics coffeegirl posted are super cool!
Perhaps this is a real game after all?

Here's the thing, Star Spider. uF is not a democracy. It's great if the mods want our opinions on things, but if they say no to something, that is their right, as this is ultimately their place. It's like this: If I'm going over to someone's house, and they tell me on the way they don't want me to use the f-bomb, I simply do not use the f-bomb, as it would be disrespectful. This is exactly the same thing. Their place, their rules. If one is not willing to abide by the rules of the place, then one is disrespectful and, in my opinion, not welcome in the place at all. I certainly wouldn't want to play a game that very blatantly disrespects the people that are hosting it. Really, would you support a drunkard at a party who was talking trash about the host?

That snake screams Quetzalcoatl. Huge flying serpent with wings hatching from an egg that may be our planet? Definitely Quetzalcoatl. For more information on Quetzalcoatl: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatl
