[SPEC] Ann Starling and Dream Projector

Color me trouted if you've brought this up somewhere else; I know it seems kind of obvious but I can't find it mentioned.

Didn't Ann Starling say she talked to the dead in dreams? And someone's dreams at Dream Projector are obviously referencing Cambridge. So there are a few possibilities:

- The dreamer is a Dread House survivor and it's popping up in her dreams.
-The dreamer is a Dread House survivor and she's recovering a blanked out or removed memory from her dreams.
- Someone else can also communicate with the dead. (How common is this? Is it just a matter of having the right perception, or is s/he equally insane? Should we try and find this person?)

I posted this in the Dreamprojecter thread but I'll add it here as this seems a more pertinent area...

Reading the good doctor's bio found here:

http://www.dreamprojector.com/doctor.htm

reveals that he received his BS in Psychology in 1961 from the University of Minnesota. More importantly, it lists this:

Residency, Clinical Psychology, University of Minnesota, 1971

A tie to Cambridge Mental Hospital? It's certainly implied...especially considering there's strong evidence tying a number of recorded dreams to CMH directly.

His professional affiliations also show a strong leaning towards electroshock and brain research.

And this picture from cambridgementalhostpital.com indicates use of electroshock there as well...

Heck, the history pages at CMH talk quite blatantly about the usage of shock therapy there. Don't see how that relates to dreams, though...

Hi, (trendy newb signal)
Perhaps that's not an electro-shock machine.
Maybe it's a dream projector.
Only way I can think to connect them is by crunching the numbers on the DRP science page ( http://www.dreamprojector.com/nfscience3.htm ) to show it uses 12 sensors. I'm not too great with numbers though.
It does the dream projector is the result of over 30 years of work, putting the begining of that work around 1970, thus: Residency, Clinical Psychology, University of Minnesota, 1971.
Also, normally electrodes would be spread across the body, not closely-packed together as the drawning shows, and that those for the DRP are described.

For what it's worth, I sent an email to dreamprojector.com a couple of days ago:
Quote:
Greetings,

I am doing some research on the psychoanalysis of dreams and ran across some references to Dr. Shoemaker's work. I was hoping you could give me some more information about the Doctor's background. I see that he received his BS and later did his residency in Minnesota - did he by any chance do any work at the Cambridge Mental Hospital there? I've seen other information that would seem to indicate that some dream research was taking place there, and (interestingly enough) one of the dreams recorded and made available on your site (patient William S.) seems to include images from CMH as well. Finally, part of my research touches on Dr. Edward House, onetime director of the CMH; it seems too much to hope that Dr. Shoemaker could shed much light on this enigmatic figure but it would be intriguing to learn that the two doctors might have worked together at some point, or perhaps participated in some of the same research.

Can you shed any light on this? Or better, might the Doctor himself be available for interview by phone, email or otherwise? Quite apart from my questions regarding Cambridge, I'm sure the Doctor's experiences with the Dream Projector would make for intriguing research and I would love the opportunity to direct some questions to him.

Thanks for your time - I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Warm regards,
Heri Chon

No reponse as yet, but will keep everyone posted.
