Yeah, I got that one too. But in the thread made about it, there's a post saying that it's not to do with. Ketsui Chan.

OK, sorry, but I hadn't heard of that ARG before. It seems to have shut down anyway, after (accidentally?) including the White House, DoJ etc. in the e-mail I received.

Pert is already on the rebound.Up 70% From last Tuesday. With big news expected. We see no reason why this one will not go over the $1 mark.

Pert the owner of Tinelok, said to be the most significant fastener design in 25 years, is making a strong come back from lower trading last week.

Pert announced last tuesday having twenty-one issued and pending patents on its technology.

TineLok vibration-proof fastening system system does not loosen or vibrate.

A critical element with military applications. The US Navy has been testing this product now for over a year.

Buy in low First thing Thursday! This will continue to climb.

They all have been about "Pert" or something similar.

This seems like classic stock-quote spam. They buy a bunch of share of a certain stock, send spam convincing other people to buy it, then sell after it goes up in price.

ETA: This seems to confirm it.

gibberish comments

A weird comment was posted to the Argnet story on the recent AporiaCME puzzle trail: http://www.argn.com/archive/000698acme_puzzle_trail_offers_hints_at_future_project.php#comments

It looks eerily similar to comments that have been posted to the Whitechapel:Open Cases IG site: http://whitechapel.despoiler.org/index.php?title=MSG4

Those of us playing Whitechapel figured the PMs would've removed them if they were spam. Plus, aren't spam links supposed to actually go somewhere?

Those comments seem very out of place. I thought the ARGNet comments were set that they have to be approved by the ARGNet staff before public.
Seems out of place for an IG comment (wouldn't ARGNet be OOG like uF?).
Not sure there is enough information to decode (if they are coded websites). Good catch.

Actually Sylvia caught it and posted in the Whitechapel and Aporia threads. I just thought I'd post it here to get some spam experts' eyes on it. Smile

lglabs.net

Just got back home today, and I already did a search on this and nothing showed up in UF... so here's the weird email I just got. No, I do not remember signing in or registering at the site.

Unfortunately, at this time our website is still under
development, and we hope that it will be live within the week;
with the development of the Learning Artificial Intelligence

job of the website. Once it is complete and open to the public,
you will be able to officially register on our site and be
provided the login information for our private Beta Tester

We thank you for your assistance, and hopefully together we can
make the LAIP the single most important technological
breakthrough of the 21st century.

Once again, thank you for your assistance.

The "author" meta tag lists someone who registered, very recently, on uF.
And the structure of the source looks very similar to that we've been seeing in the PO/LMF trailheads.

I searched for NerComm Design Studios, as it is in the source for the site, i came up with a website,

http://www.nercomm.net/

which isnt used anymore, but at one point was used for a fansite alpha omega arg,
see here:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20692

it may not be related but a intresting coincidence.
It might be a good time to move this lglabs trailhead into its own topic.

OK, new one... Just received this email:

Quote:
from Me Whoknows <whoknowsme212121212121212>

Hello :3.
I am looking for an email pal.
I have met 1 of your friends!
I also have a song for you to hear.
Listen Carefully.

...and attached was a 6+Mb MP3 file called "DATAARK.mp3" of a song. It's got no tags, no artist info, nothing.

Not a bad song, but still; I'm not a particular fan of anyone that sends me a 6+Mb file anonymously.

I also don't know if I should link the whole 6Mb file here. Should I?

*EDIT*

OK, this looks like a trail head. I sent...

Quote:
Sorry... do I know you?

Nice song... but what am I supposed to be hearing for?

...and they responded...

Quote:
The song.
Listen CAREFULLY.
Put your speakers to the max if you have too.
Also, You will get to know me.

PM, if you're reading this... You managed to pick the one person that is 40% deaf in one ear. I'll listen to it again, but it damn well better be obvious then.

Anyone else get this song?
