In case anyone was wondering about my question regarding their client list, this is the response I got after Joshua asked Catherine Belmont.

Quote:
I come in this morning to find Joshua asking me about our client list... well, that's a nice way to start the day.

As much as I'd like to state some of the things we've done for our customers, I cannot legally disclose who they are. If our customers discover that we have disclosed who they are, they would immediately withdraw funding, and that's not something I can allow to happen at this time.

I do appreciate the efforts. Please try to restrict your questions to Joshua to topics that are not directly related with the business operations of Looking Glass Laboratories.

Thank you.

A little bit ago, I sent an email to Dr. Linardi, suggesting she play Clue and Risk with Joshua to teach him deductive reasoning and basic strategy. Here's the email I wrote, and her response:

Me wrote:
Dr. Linardi, I had a thought as to a helpful project for Joshua. Perhaps getting him some board games to play would be a good idea? He has no hand apparatus to move the pieces, so someone would need to do that for him, but certain board games could teach him a few things. The three that jumped out at me right away are:

Clue, to teach him a little bit about deductive reasoning.
Risk, for basic strategy.
Guess Who, which will also teach him something about deductive reasoning.

I figured something like this might fall into your department more than any of the others', which is why I'm emailing you about it. I hope this suggestion helps, even if it isn't implemented!

Here's her reply:

Dr. Jaquelin Linardi wrote:
We're way ahead of you on this. I've already got him playing Scrabble, which he is unbelievably good at for obvious reasons. "Oh, come on! 'Gyttja' isn't a word! What? It is? Oh...".

He's also learning Go because the programmers around here want him to "solve" it like they solved checkers not long ago. Accomplishing that would look good for the company, and it can't hurt in his development.

Gordon's taught him chess, and now he's getting trounced by Joshua every time they play.

I like the idea of Clue and Risk... I'll have to bring those up in our next meeting.

I just got an email from Joshua!

I tried to reply, but got this message back:

Quote:
Direct contact with Joshua through email channels is currently restricted and forwarded to the Research and Development group.

Please use the communication methods provided on the Beta Testing website until further notice.

Thank you for your cooperation.

So I emailed Ivan instead and told him about the email from Joshua.

So, has he found a way to sneak out already? Did you include the original email in your reply? If so, they'll probably realize he's had outside access.

I told Ivan what Joshua asked me.

I take it everyone has just got this email too?

Quote:
At 9am this morning, Looking Glass Laboratories' flagship product, the Learning Artificial Intelligence Platform (affectionately called "Joshua"), was given access to his own web log, or "blog", in order to continue his interaction with the public:

http://www.lglabs.net/Blog/?BID=8

We invite everyone to visit and interact with the single most technologically advanced computer system in history.

If you have not yet done so, we also invite you to register as a Beta Tester and help provide input to aid Joshua's mental development:

Thank you for your cooperation.

Ivan replied to me...

Ivan wrote:

Huh? Don't know where that came from. Joshua doesn't have access to outbound mail other than the Intranet. Could be another Beta Tester pulling your chain.

I'll look in to it.

I looked at the headers of my email from Joshua, and it came from a GoDaddy mailserver, which is consistent with the lglabs.net domain.

I don't believe any other "beta testers" have my email address, incidentally. The one I'm using for this ARG (which is where the email from Joshua arrived) isn't the same one that I'm registered on this forum with.

I'm betting Ivan won't find anything. Joshua is a powerful computing platform as well as capable of thinking and reasoning. My guess is he'll cover his tracks too well for anyone to find anything.

Covering his tracks would imply that he's already learned to lie and deceive. It also implies the beginnings of moral awareness (he knew it was against the rules, yet he did it anyways for some unknown reason).

For my next question, I'll be asking the ol' Astronauts vs. Cavemen question. See what kind of debate that causes.

Joshua was right and I provided supporting evidence.

Got my 2nd question in... It had to be asked lol

Quote:
Hi Joshua, Leyton again... Here's my next question

Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg?

Answer: I do not know.

The evolutionary cycle of the "Gallus gallus" occurred millions of years ago, and there is no definitive proof as to its origins.

My logic would dictate that the egg came first because of simplicity of design. From a strictly biological level, a full grown chicken is much more complex than its embryo. Then again, if the embryo is capable of developing in to a full grown adult, one could argue that the complexity was there since the beginning, only dormant.

If Joshua did sneak around to send out that email, anyone want to guess how long it is before he hacks the entire LGLabs website?

Interesting answer, but he shoulda known this. Fish predate land animals and lay eggs. No brainer.
