errors in eli's first podcast

I did a little research in greek pages about the ancient olympic games and it seems that some of the things eli has been saying are not valid.

For example, the cloth on the head of the athletes did actually represent victory but for the athletes that won the chariot (horse) games. So there is no connection with a blindfold.

Also, the word agonothetai actually means the one that sets the rules of the game, and the hellanodikai were called agonothetai as well. Furthermore, the hellanodikai were 10 representatives of greek cities - i do not see any connection with our 6 amnesiacs.

Hope this helps

Hello from Germany!

I finally found time to join you. I know Vlad from Germany and maybe some other players. I speak German, French and English and maybe I can help you a bit.

For the Cardiff event: If it was on friday it could be with 'Lady Bute' ("meet every other Friday at 7.30pm"), but as Eli talks about weekend he might think about Sat or Sun. But in any case we could maybe get the 'Branch Newsletter' from these oddfellows. Email is mary.sparksSPLAToddfellows.co.uk

Continuing to treat Mr. Hunt as a social engineering problem (and seeing playing to his ego already got us some info) I'm trying a different route: bad cop. Here's what I wrote him:

Quote:
Mr. Hunt,

I tried to write you before and play nice, but you wouldn't listen. But listen to me now: I have irrefutable proof your research is fake and believe me I will expose it to the world if you do not start spilling the beans about the forsaken ring. Consider yourself advised.

I was carefull not to make threats regarding the lecture - I was a little afraid he would change plans about it (but probably wouldn't anyway, considering this is the action PMs want to happen), but we'll see how and if he answers to this.

New Video from Ariadne

Hey, Ariadne has a new video on her blog, telling us, she's going to Cardiff to confront Eli Hunt and to convince him, to help us.

I sent Markus an e-mail yesterday telling him that Ariadne was going to Cardiff... I just got back to my desk and found an e-mail from him as well.
Quote:

Alles Gute,
Markus

Ariadne is going to meet with him. I told her it was a bad idea, but she's doing it anyway. I feel somehow responsible for her, you, and other people, and I am already a bit annoyed that she's going to Cardiff. Hopefully she will come back [safely], who knows, maybe she will learn something new.

Thanks for your e-mail
All Good,
Markus

Quite late into the game, but I got my box too! It took quite a while to get here (arrived on wednesday) but I was away for a few days and could only pick it up from the post-office today.

The details:

Text on box: "Curiouser and curiouser..."
Yarn: Bright red
Postcards: RAAIM059, XAAI0032, RAAIM072
Fortune: "You will soon demonstrate great honor."
Obligatory pictures: Clicky

This is actually the first ARG swag that made it's way over here in the 4,5 years I've been following this genre Smile

Task: wiki

Hello again,

while we are waiting for news from that Eli event and the 11th, we should join our forces for the wiki.

There are still some translations missing (although they can already be found somewehere in the trailhead), the descriptions for the clothes they were wearing and their "special names".

So please go to the character's sites and update it. We already have most oft the things, but they are not in the wiki yet.

http://olympics.wikibruce.com/Home

Thank you! Smile

And about Markus:

[META]His German annoys me. I hardly can believe he is a native German. His written German is so wrong and full of stupid mistakes - though his speaking is quite good.[/META]

[not something that needs a spoiler tag - we use that for puzzle solves - relabled as META cause it's not an IG thing - kona]

[META]If it's that bad, I wonder if this is some sort of clue? I mean, if it's the Olympics involved in this, they should at least have the resources to find someone who can write proper German... so while it may just be bad planning on the PMs part, it could also be something we were meant to notice...?[/META]

I noticed while I was watching Eli Hunt's second podcast that there is (or was) a city in Thessaly called Larissa. Larissa was the one who found Renata four years ago, yes? I'm not sure if there's a connection, or if there is, what it could be, but I figure it's important, because in order to place focus on the city of Larissa when the podcast starts, the map has to be moved to the right once the lecture starts in order to show the island of Kefalonia (which is the location that the lecture is actually about).

Hope this helps!!

Actually this is no spoiler, I mentioned this before and asked if the other amnesiacs might do the same in their native languages but it seems not, cause nobody confirmed this so far.

[META]His spoken german is perfect, nobody can speak this accent free without at least living in germany for years. And as both of us said before, he is making some mistakes in his word usage and in his grammar, the grammar might be because of hastyness but the wordusage reminds me of the usage of english words in direct translation, like using "hoch" (high) for saying groß (tall). So I guess this somehow is wanted.[/META]
