It's a submission for our creative writing challenge, for the Book 2 coin. There is a site on the internet that creates the image of a newspaper clipping out of whatever text you submit to it. (Sorry to blow your cover, but this is after all an OoG forum.) Whether or not GMD chooses to bring the article in-game remains to be seen, but nothing is official or canon until you see it posted on an ingame site. And as of the last time I checked, we have received no updates.

I think Dav believed it before cath's explanation.
Why am I still holding out hope that this will inspire the PMs to have Howard stroll back (well, log on) triumphantly to SO, posting "Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated!"? *sigh*

I guess now that the "obituary / article" is out on the SO boards, it's fair game IG.

I must admit that my first thought was to try and cover it up, but I remember someone telling me "With Great [Moderatorly] Power, comes . . . redheaded hotties with a propensity for calling you 'Tiger'". But really, it isn't my place (nor anyone's besides the PMs) to do such a thing.

It'll be interesting to see how (if? when? ever?) the PMs will choose to handle this monkey wrench.

It shouldn't be terribly hard to deny: "Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated."

Looks like we've successfully gamejacked our own game, folks. Very Happy

Woah! J5, Rowen - Good Show! I wonder if the PM's will run with this, if anything ever starts running again at all. Your bitterness definitely has company.

Oops... sorry guys. Any moderators have my permission to take it down if it turns out to have been in error.

But nonetheless, anything is better than nothing, eh?

That's actually what my intention was. I mean, it certainly wouldn't be too hard to come up with an 'explanation' of why the article isn't 'entirely true' (besides just calling me a liar) Very Happy

When I submitted my entry to GMD, I told them that they had better at least comment on it, before I mysteriously found any more obituaries on the internet. I really don't care who I temporarily kill off if it drives them to act. If it wasn't for the fact I'm out of the country this week, someone else might have already died....

Brooke comes through once again: http://www.schmeldritch.com/2008/03/creating-a-monster.html

Quote:
As any scientist will tell you, it is the unexpected result that is the most intriguing. Unfortunately, for us, the unexpected came in the form of what we call the Eldritch Curse. We can't say for sure that it's a curse. Maybe one is just not meant to play with the dark, weird, and otherworldly. Whatever the case, we've known for a year now that there is something strange and magical about working on Eldritch Errors and, with every Book, we brace ourselves for the unpredictable. From death to birth and with gunshots or car accidents, we have learned to be prepared for whatever the universe throws our way. With Book Three, easily the most intense and complex chapter to date, we knew that whatever happened, it would be big.

How could we know, however, that what would come would be amazing opportunities. Oh, we knew that it would be difficult, but we also knew that nothing was in opposition. Everything was complimentary. The skills and experiences we had in one would boost our talents and refresh our minds for the others. How could we get so lucky?

Unfortunately, the universe demanded choices in return. Time, sanity, and passion were thrown on the table and, before we knew it, we lost time and our lives became chaotic and unpredictable as we struggled to hold on to the rest.

With every setting sun, we believe that tomorrow is the day that we will triumph against this universe and win back time. The fact that we have come to accept, though, is that we just don't know that tomorrow will be the day and, as the days pass, our desire to regroup and rebuild grows stronger. For as much as we love the world we are playing with, it pales to our feelings for those playing in it with us. So, even if tomorrow is the day that time is, once again, ours, we ask for your continued patience as we use that time to gather what we have and figure out not how to make it work but how to bring it back to life and how to do that in a way that will immerse you, terrify you, and fulfill you in ways that will blow your mind. For you and the monster we all are playing with deserve nothing less.

Take it for what you will.

Foily!

Thank you so much for giving us some peace of mind so we know this is because of something good and not bad.

... they couldn't have posted that BEFORE this point.....

*sigh* ... Really I'm not pissed about what happened, I'm just pissed about HOW it happened. While I know it is hard to differentiate between IG/OOG, while our IG characters are held in suspense, I don't think it is fair to hold the OoG players in the same suspense. After repeated calls for just an acknowledgment of game on or off, the silence just showed disrespect to the players.

But now in respect to the PMs, whats done is done, now the players know and I'm sure many of us await the games return. I for one hope that your prosperity continues (so you can hire more people and get back to EE Smile ), and I wish you good luck in your endeavors.

So... Eldritch Errors is officially stalled until Ragnarok? Or at least until they decide to start it up again. That's vaguely annoying. Will EE 2.0 have the same characters/setting?

That post makes me want to know what caused them to halt even more. What was the amazing opportunity?

It's good to hear something any way. I hope it isn't stalled TOO very long. But I'm glad that good things are happening for them.
