Seriously, though, lol, I haven't seen the movie. Based on reviews, I figured I should save my money and download it (which I haven't done yet).

He is at the party, one of the people really in the background. Exactly after they finish talking in the kitchen and walk out of it, he is standing directly in front of the camera. You see him like twice in two scenes right here. Definitely him, I mean as soon as I saw him on the screen I knew it was him and I didnt even know he had a on screen cameo...... Anthony

I second this, I saw it again tonight, and i was looking for jj the entire part, then rob pulls beth out of the kitchen and there he is standing right in the center of the screen, looking directly at the camera, hell he was even wearing like a thick horizontal striped shirt.

This him...?

That's at 14:37 of the not-so-good quality copy that's going around, btw, so it's around that point in the movie, when Rob has just hauled Beth out of the kitchen.

From that image, it sort of looks like a guy with glasses, but there's really no way to tell unless we can see it in high def.

I really would've preferred to see him as something cooler (like one of the ideas mentioned earlier, as a pilot or an exploded guy, etc.), but if he's really in there, that's pretty neat.

It's a bit clearer when it's actually moving, but my computer's being a bitch, as usual, so to grab the moving section would probably crash it. It really looks like him to me.

The quality of the copies I find keep getting better. When the DVD comes out, of course, this should be clarified enough to tell (although, it's hard to know how clear this is in even the HD version), but, in the meantime...
Here's the clip from my newest (and clearest) copy of the movie.

http://smg.photobucket.com/player.swf?refURL=/&file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v246/Godkin/JJCameo.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1

If it looks pixelated, try resizing it...on my computer, I find it looks its best at about 3/4 to 4/5 the size of the screen.

Still looks like JJ to me.

The message is after the credits, not at the end of the movie.

Yeah, I know...that was referring to Lady in the Water, and it was a joke, but the idea was that, we all stayed through the Cloverfield credits because we knew there would be a funky message...but, I never stayed through the credits of Lady in the Water because there was no funky message after those.

Gosh it's been long since I last came on... ehh, Alright. I watched the movie at the thearthers (spelled wrong) and I saw he was in the party AND the scene right after the SOL head falls. It might be the same colored shirt, since, Hud doesn't know how to keep a camera stable when he's screaming for shit. (lol).
I also think I saw him when Jason climbed the pole right before GP's tail kerplonks on Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn bridge is fallling down, falling down, falling down...)

Where did you see him in the SoL scene?
I've checked, and checked, and checked again, and I can't see him on the bridge, but, like you said, Hud's camera work leaves much to be desired...it's really hard to see anyone at all.

Yes, lets download and watch illegal copies of the movie. How fun.

That's like going up to J.J., saying "FUCK YOU." and then tearing into his body and drawing out a Cloverfield DVD.

Ok, not that bad. But still, theres not going to be enough motivation for a sequel if people just download the first one.

I saw Cloverfield in the theatre, I'll be buying every format they throw at me, and I'll be repeating the process for every sequel that follows. I'll be throwing every penny I have at JJ, and then some. In between all that, sure, I have a copy that I downloaded so I could watch it every waking second of my God-forsaken life. I know, that makes me a horrible person.

Do you work for the MPAA?

Your logic sounds exactly like their's, when in reality it is those who consume the product and generally pay money for said product that are downloading movies/music etc. Let's hope JJ doesn't start suing his best customers too, like the RIAA does.

I mean seriously, who here wouldn't buy the DVD the day it comes out? (Despite downloading the movie now or earlier).
