You know, if you're gonna have a go at someone for their spelling, you'd better make damn sure that you don't write "a lot" as one word.

I don't really care about what he thinks about the viral, I'm more apt to believe JJ and producers over the writers. the final vision, plotline and universe is in their hands.

Just because it wasn't what he specifically wrote about in his head doesn't mean it isn't true.

Which is what he said in the interview.

Sorry, I'm actually still listening to it...

I never corrected anyones spelling. I earnestly asked about a word usage.

I know it's two words. I miss spaces often (stupid keyboard), so I try and go back and correct them. Missed one.

Or maybe I actually meant Airborne Lightweight Optical Tracking Very Happy

And thank you for ignoring the rest of that post for some nitpicky spelling.

I'm not gonna be a dick and "TROUT" this one, but I DID technically bring this up here:

6th post down
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24540

Though I did say I would let you all know once the podcast was online and available...

I attended this Q&A, (I'm the one who asks him about the LOST connection!), this is our proof that there is without a doubt, a substantial connection between Cloverfield and Lost.

He shoots down EVERYTHING pretty much, but gives us a "maybe" when I ask him about the connection...

Just open your ears non-believers. There's a Lost connection there that will be unveiled soon. Whether you like it or not.

Yeah, I don't believe you didn't already know that he meant 'canon' and not 'cannon'.

Argh, no. Just because he was vague on your question does not mean there's a connection!!!

Maybe means just that, maybe.

I know which word he needed to use, I didn't think he did.
Not spelling, the word itself.

There are plenty of people who don't know the word canon, and when quoting an audio interview wouldn't know the word wasn't cannon.

So I wasn't correcting his spelling, but the word he used.
But in retrospect, that's just as much nitpicking, (especially in using such a long post to do it in, I should have at least trimmed the definitions) so my apologies to both you and the OP for that.

We now return you to our previously scheduled thread...

I've covered my thoughts on the likely Lost connection elsewhere. I think it's canon that they take place in the same world because of the Dharma logo in the movie, but unlikely they'll cross more than that. Writers like to keep thier worlds tidy, and they less entire worlds they have to invent and keep track of the better.

Well, he gave long winded explanations for everything else. When asked about the Lost connection, he was very quick to say maybe.

This guy is a writer, his JOB is to be wordy! If there was no connection, judging from every other response, he would have said "No", then he would have gone on with: WHY. Something to the effect of "Well, JJ and I had long discussions about it, and we realized there should be no connection because of blah blah blah..."

But he didn't.

And on the other hand, if he flat out said "Yes", then he would be letting the cat out of the bag too early. Plus let's be honest, would JJ let Drew just spill the beans at a small Q&A session? I think not! JJ would make a Comic Con announcement, or wait until the right time on Lost itself to pass the gems on to Damon Lindelof or Carlton Cuse...

Also, more than anything, I think they're waiting for the sequel, and possibly for later on down the line with Lost as well, (They have 3 more seasons coming...).

There's no need to rush a HUGE announcement like that. But with Drew Goddard saying "Maybe", it definitely wets the appetite until they do!

Are you forgetting that Drew outright lied about the smaller monsters previously by saying that they weren't in the film?

'Maybe' is no evidence of anything, it's just a maybe. The biggest evidence for their being a connection is still the Dharma image, nothing else.

Remember what he said, nothing that anyone says in interviews is canon, what's on the screen is.

I don't remember if he specifically said "we've been raised to believe viral marketing is canon" but I would have to disagree with his wording. While it may be true that for this movie and franchise the fanbase thought of the viral as canon, I don't think that anyone has been "raised" to believe that viral marketing is canon. Viral marketing has not been around very long and I don't think anyone grew up being told by their elders that viral marketing is canon.

Your post proves his point. Were all to busy taking everything anyone says so seriously. What he meant might not be what he said, but its still obvious what he was getting at.

This interview somehow makes it seem like the entire experience was a waste. Oh well, it was still fun.

Why would he do that? To bug the living shit out of nutjobs like you who hang on every single letter, word, phrase, and sentence that people like him utter.
