this are the word written on Greek in the video during Eli Hunt's presentation. Any body read greek?

OK, let`s try to find out that Greek word (I don`t speak Greek, so no guarantee)

???
???
???

Αθηνα
Οιυμια (not Ολυμπία, as I thought)
θ βοι

Οιρνομυλαι
??υοιξ
ηιβαυροζ

?ργοξ
Ιυζ
Υιγτα

These are mistakes, very possibly. I'll ask my friend, he is Greek, he could help

And I have strange feeling, that this scene with Hunt is his secret lecture.

Nice image, looks familiar somehow.

As FMG pointed out, the first word of the first visible column is Athena, and as I pointed out, the second is Olympia.

Also, some of your transcription is putting Os in place of Thetas. Like I said, I'm 75% certain that the first word in the second readable column is something like Thermopolai

Notice how Ariadne is lying with her head on her arm? Just like MeiHui describes it in her story (lying with forehead on her arm). Maybe they were all put like that on purpose, so that they see their new tattoo immediately or something. Maybe we should ask the others whether they can remember their position when waking up...

Also: First I thought the guy running through the corn field was our dear Markus, but then I saw that the blindfold was wrong (it's white not black), and I guess they rather want to show us how the ancient game looked like. I noticed that he has his arms crossed over his chest while running. So during the game they were not allowed to feel the walls but had to do it all with their memory of the labyrinth. That's why our athletes have such a good memory about movements (Tai Chi etc.) and good skills in navigation (like Renata).

And then of course there is this little gathering scene with athletes getting together and they all wear white and black clothes.

[META]And the German translation of the picture collage page after the vid is again more than bad. Holy moly! "Privatleben Politik" for "Privacy Policy". They are just working the google translation as we do. We shouldn't feel bad about that anymore Smile[/META]

Oh, and is there something interesting written on Kai's shirt?

Wiki

Hi everybody. This is my first post here Smile

I was away a few days and tried to catch up. In parallel I took the chance to update the wiki, mainly the timeline (http://olympics.wikibruce.com/Timeline) and the puzzle page (http://olympics.wikibruce.com/Puzzles).
I am not sure, if everything is correct. So please correct things if necessary.

In my opinion it would be helpful, if other people join to keep the wiki up to date. It is much easier to look up information in the wiki than in the forum. Especially the translation of the foreign languages in the blogs could be helpful. I can take over for Markus blog since I am a German native speaker.

I agree, it looks like Thermopylai: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermopylae
It's just north of Delphi: http://www.fsmitha.com/h1/map12gr.htm
and has hot springs, as in Delphi, and is noted for:
"Thermopylae is part of the infamous "horseshoe of Maliakos" also known as the "horseshoe of death": it is the narrowest part of the highway connecting the north and the south of Greece. It has many turns and has been the site of many vehicular accidents."

[SPEC]You think the ancient sport was not just running blindfolded in a labyrinth (without use of hands to find one's way), but maybe through dangerous terrain (on cliffs, narrow passages, etc)?

Oh, and regarding riquardo's spec re: Delphi's restaurant in NYC: that's nowhere near Bryant park. NY has tons of restaurants, especially Greek diners etc., so if there is a specific reference, it'll be to a significant monument or place, like the public library, or the park itself, or... or the city as a whole...

Second word in the first (whole) column i think is indeed Olympia Ὀλυμπία
Third word in the first (whole) column could be Θῆβαι (Thebes) missing the ῆ

First word in that next column could be Θερμοπύλαι (Thermopylae)

First word last column. Ἄργος (Argos)--it's acropolis was named Larissa!
Middle word, last column COULD be λήθη (Lethe) (interesting to me because it translates as "forgetfulness" and is one of the seven rivers of Hades.
Last word last colum. Τεγέα (Tegea)

just thinking out loud here.

Yep, I want to "confirm" what you have said... I think these are the greek words (I'll use the Roman alphabet, note that I don't use the greek accent, where you see one, is to remark a long vowel):
Athéna
Olumpia
Th bai

Thermopulai
Leusis*
Pidauros (Epidauros without "e", perhaps?)

Argos
Lis (Elis without "e"?)
Tegea

Note that "u" would be a "y" (though the pronunciation is like French "u" or German "ü").

(*) I think this refers to "Eleusis" (west of Athens). Pay attention to this:
Eleusis wrote:
In antiquity Eleusis was one of the most important sanctuaries, dedicated to Demeter and her daughter Persephone, and connected to the Eleusinian Mysteries (...) Unlike elsewhere in Greece, where religion was open to all, at Eleusis the mysteries were controlled by a small, closed group of initiates who had sworn to uphold the strict confidentiality of the secret rites.

Found here:
http://www.greekhotel.com/greekislands/athens/w_attica.htm

I also find interesting the fact that some of the greek words in the list lack letters (only "e" so far)... Could that be a code (or "the code" as it says in the video)? We need to figure out the first column...

Yes! Also, to support the theory, the words missing the first E (Epidauros, Elis, etc.) are not capitalized, while the others are. Many of these places are centers of worship (but then again, that's true of many places in the ancient world). I know that Epidauros was a center both for healing and worship related to that as well as (a gorgeous and once again active -- I recommend a visit) amphitheater.
I've added this to the puzzles page.
