I see nothing too major has happened while I was away. It's good to see that Gerry and 1in50 are the good guys anyway.

Yeah, "TINAG" makes you wonder, with the real world LHC and CERN and controversies surrounding both (especially the LHC), what this game is accomplishing / where this game is going. For now, I am figuring that Becca thought PO was all some kind of game, and the PMs are just having fun.

Agreed... Like I said in one of my previous posts after Bec's posted her first blog it seemed that she and Martin thought they were playing some kind of ARG; for example she mentioned that her and Martin were led to doing things which; they've practically had us doing this whole time (Completing tasks and retrieving data from places etc).

But... And only read if the TINAG is really bothering you that much.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I happen to know *indirectly* Who the PM is just through doing research on the LMF whois and putting 2 and 2 together; if you read my posts on LMF after doing a whois of the site you'll understand.

I also once recieved an email from the PM after an OOG mistake they made which was kinda funny; although wont disclose what all that was about because I gave my word to keep quiet; I'm only mentioning it because it's easy to understand that the 'TINAG' comment might confused and somewhat worry some of you.

It's interesting that Becca doesn't know that we're all participants. Do you think we should tell her? We might be able to be a sort of mole for her with Jason and PO.

Just popping in. I've tried to get on the 1in50mil site and it never seems to load correctly for me. Razz Because of that (and how lost I'm getting when I can't keep up from work!) I've pretty much bowed out here. I'm hoping the Becca angle at wordpress is easier to keep track of.

FYI the 1in 50 site is still up and running... so feel free to come in and chat with us..

I've tried to get on and I'm not sure what's wrong. I've logged in with both IE and FF and I get to the part of the site where it shows the little web of icons for email, chat, files, etc.. and when I click on "chat" it just sits there as if I didn't do anything. Happens in both FF and IE.

After reading the replies I'm hoping I'm not showing up in there every time I do it, and if so, sorry about that. Sad Is there another way in?

...*laugh* That did it. Rolling Eyes *headdesk* Just when I think I'm soooo technically inclined.

Anyway. I mentioned this 20-odd pages back but I'm jcartoli in there. He's my rpg-other half so if anyone goes googling for him all of that stuff is totally irrelevant.

The "it's a bit World of Warcraft" comment made me laugh, since I play WoW and know exactly what she means. XD

Good to know who the heroes and villains are in this thing... Now to figure out what the next puzzles could be.

I have never played WoW, though I have friends who play rather obsessively. I do play Sid Meier's Civilization, though, which is quite addictive.

Yeah, I know how the WoW comment feels, seeing as I'm like that with almost every other RPG in existance (I'm nearly always skint, so a paid MMORPG isn't pssible for me). I know what you mean about Civilisation as well, seeing as it's addictive too.
As for the next step, I guess we just wait. Again. Razz

She hasn't answered my question from before, but I hesitate to ask it again.

Is it just me, or does she sound un-British today? I didn't think Brits used "kinda" and "sorta". Of course, I'm a Yank, so what do I know? Wink

Update from Becs.... Looks like this is the final push Ladies n' Gents.

Quote:
Endgame?March 9, 2008

So, myself and Gerry have been plotting to take the game down from within. I've learnt from experience that the only way to win a game is to play by the rules, so to an extent that's what we're going to do. As I said yesterday, every system has it's weakness, and it's the authorisation system that's weak for Project Ophiuchus.

We've tried many times to hack the main site and database in order to take it down but with little success. There seems to be security measures in place to automatically lock down the system in cases of attack. However, we think we've found a way around it. The system's designed in a way that it can only either be in the process of authorisation or defending itself. So what does that mean? Quite simply, it means we need to distract the system while we're hacking in.

So, this is where you come in. We're in the process of modifying the system so we can override the standard authorisation files. In other words, you'll be able to upload your own authorisation files, and authorise files others have uploaded.

It'll be useful if we start to stockpile these files, so we've got them when we need them. It's best if authorisation files are in the form of a puzzle because the system's pretty clever. There's a chance that it could authorise files automatically.

You'll need to prepare your images so they're under 200Kb and no larger than 500×500. The authorisation code will need to be entered when the image is uploaded. Think of it like the solution to the puzzle contained in the image.

If we get enough files being constantly authorised, we're likely to be able to jump in and take down the system completely.

This time, it really is up to you…

I'll be in contact again when we're ready and I'll let you know when we're going for it.

Good Luck,

Becs x

A source of good picture puzzles is here.

Of course, we could always remake those puzzles ourselves (get two actual doctors to stand side by side and take the picture, the answer is paradox; a doll head over a pair of high heel shoes is Head over Heels... etc.)

I figure most of us have digital cams, web cams or phone cams, maybe blow the PMs away with how many we could get together.

Just a thought.
