..and that's exactly the point. This sort of "dead space" so early on isn't great for game play. There's basically no *solid* story, only one character who's totally AFK at the moment and a single site filled with basic clues (not counting the blog though). So we're either TOTALLY missing something or this wasn't thought out very well by the PM :'(

Please note that there are still some puzzles yet to be solved.

I read somewhere on these forums that in a developers conference some of the PM's for the Beast gave some info about how the game went. They said they had puzzles that were planned to take a day, some a week and some that would take 3 month's. They were all cracked in one DAY.

The PM's will no doubt have learnt from the Beast and will have cranked up the difficulty. So be prepared for a tough challenge.

I think the leads are there, they just need to be dug out.

Oh no doubt, I look foward to some tough times..but not without a little more story first..lol. It's like any good game (of any type). Things start off with a good background story, a little build up of things to come, some story filer..then you get to the meat by diving into the hard stuff. I guess my big "fear" here is that with nothing new to feed on, this could become orphaned really quick. :'( Even with the Beast, you had lots to feed off of while you were trying to solve whatever was in front of you. That's really all I want at this point..heh

Very Happy

It's been a few days and it feels like a month. I'm sure this is me just being impatient but I am eager to find more and it seems like we are currently out of clues.

Do you think we'll be waiting 10 more days to hear anything else?

Please pardon my overzealousness.

I heard that during "The Beast" the updates were made on a weekly basis. So the time between updates here is not that unusual. The few grassroots games I was involved with had various times for updates.

For the moment, I'm giving them a little room to wiggle here, but I'll be really disapointed if there isn't some type of development in the next few days. Had the last update been bigger (I was expecting at least one new site or character to show up after such a long period from launch) it wouldn't be that big a deal. The same can be said for this "trip to China" that was set for yesterday. That would have been a great chance to do...SOMETHING. Right now, it's like watching a hockey game where everyone's in the penalty box..

I know, I know..the game hasn't even been running long, but this really could be a good game if there was more to do..so far details have been sparse at best..:'(

I plan on it, but I want to finish this before I start another ARG. Don't want too many things going on. The whole idea of a ARG intrigues me.

Anyways, just SPEC, but the only realistic updates I see happening are from Dana's blog possibly saying that she's arrived in China, and maybe she'll hint at something weird that she saw on her trip or something. Other than that, I don't think much will happen until the 10th when the metastatizing or whatever occurs.

And from what I can tell, we've solved all of the puzzles that we can with the information we have. The only thing I can think of is that we're missing something, somewhere.

I just want to go YAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgh. Because I'm feeling stumped and stymied and no idea what to do. Cursing

*sigh* I can't help but feel there's something eluding us, something obvious, something we SHOULD have caught already.

And time is ticking away. We've lost Dana, temporarily; presumably we've gotten all the info we could from her -- or was she, as everything, on a timer? Catch the info quickly, so to speak, or it's lost...

Tick...tock...tick...tock. No idea if we have to trigger somehting or if an update will eventually come on its own. Time can only tell. All we can really do is go over the evidence we have and wait.

LOL..that makes me wonder. Say we're all missing something big here..given all the press around this, do you think the PMs would start throwing clues our way or just try and pretend this whole thing never went down?

I figure, if we've missed everything, then they'll throw something easier at us at metastasization...

My take on ILB at the moment is either this is still pre-game and the "real thing" starts when the countdown timer reaches 0, in which case it wouldn't be odd that nothing much happens right now. After all, this is kinda how Project MU started out: one site, related to a subject a lot of people were attracted to (the Matrix movie), but unsure how and why it was there exactly, that has a timer counting down to the start of the "real thing".

Or, after august 24 it stops and turns out to be a Official X-Box Magazine tie-in thing that isn't all too elaborate.

In the first case, weekly updates aren't necessarily too long away, because an ARG usually spreads over several (in case of The Beast a LOT of) websites, and a week is usually what you need to figure everything out, solve some puzzles, spec on some storyline, before going on to the next.

In the latter case, a lot of people will be very disappointed Neutral

That is a normal feeling. THere are even older members of the community that do nothing but sit clicking the refresh of a page waiting for the next update.

Call it a tribute to an interesting game.

As for slow starts, a wise man* once said this at the start of another fabled game (edited a bit):

Quote:
Okay, in direct response to the comment about patience in the latest
page update, I'd like to throw out a couple of observations.

The game has obviously gone live, but right now I think we're in a
sort of countdown phase to when things *really* get going.

The lights in the theatre are dimming, the trailers are finished, and
we're looking at the very first few minutes of the beginning titles,
with little establishing shots going on behind them.

Tension is building. Plus, a little time is being given for more people to find
out what's going on and get involved from the beginning, this time
around.

Bottom line is this: I get the sense that the curtain is still
coming up. The train is pulling into the station. And there are
puzzles even now that we haven't solved yet.

So hang in there folks! I know we may be a little gun-shy after some
other online games crashed and burned, or fizzled before they even
got started, but this is different. Anonymous sources at a popular e-
zine say that we're in for one great ride!

So let's sit back, keep our arms and legs inside at all times, secure
any loose articles, and make sure the lapbars are down and in the
locked position.

Because that's the top of the lift-hill just ahead........

* OK, it was vpisteve, during the launch of Lockjaw. Give them time to get a core audience built.

It could be possible that this is just time to gather a larger audience, I for one have never played an ARG before, and only stumbled onto this one yesterday. Although, I have read through all that I could within these past two days, and wonder if the game hasn't already moved onto another site. It is possible if this AI, melissa or whomever is gathering the links on the Fun Stuff page, couldn't have actually moved herself onto one of those pages. That could be what we are looking for. But, I am new to this so most likely I am wrong.
But anyway, this seems like fun, and I hope I can be accepted and possibly a help to this group.
