Pegassissy is one of those fanboy's who doesn't want a sequel...

why? I will never understand.

it's in the hands of JJ and Goddard and Reeves, then it will be just as good. Don't fear the sequel. It's your friend.

Somethinghasfoundus -- I doubt it will be Rated R. Whether people agree or not, they would NOT have made the amount of $$ did they if it was R.

PG-13 encourages the younger teens, who go to the movies every friday night or something, to spend the money.

Economically it's a bad decision. It takes away some of the realism and true gore but this is a monster movie... there's no realism to begin with.

Do I think there will be a sequel?
Yes.
Do I want one?
No.
Will I see it?
Yeah, unless I was struck by the head of the SoL or mauled by a lion.
Why dont I want one?
Because I am scared.

People do anything for money. Im catholic, but i believe that we as humans do have some part of greedy nature. Someone will ruin it. Someone will try to make those few extra dollars, and maybe they will, and good for them, but us fans, the hardcore ones, we should fear this. They are bound to screw something up. They took a risk showing us the monster(and yes, i was one who didnt want to them to show us the monster) and the parasites, and now with the possible emergance of a "mother" we may see a whole new mother. Im just saying it is going to become ridiculous and like every other movie, normal...

I think it will be too unrealistic. Yes this makes me sound like a 5 year old who believes MGP is real, but...two monsters make it another Zilla, and I dont want that.

No need for an R rated sequel. The first did fine as a PG-13 by leaving the R rated material to imagination. I think it worked out rather well. I do not think gore would make for a great giant monster movie. It is what you cannot completely see yet can still hear that frightens people. Take the Exorcist for example. The scariest movie ever made in my humble opinion. That movie is a thousand times scarier than any other movie ever made even when aired on TV with all the R rated material cut out. Mad Damn it, now I am going to have nightmares. That movie scares the piss out of me. She haunts me in my dreams, really!
Now do not get me wrong, I am a man and I love me some gore and F bombs. I just think gore is best suited for epic battles and zombie movies. Am I the only one who thought Planet Terror was a theatrical masterpiece?
I remember all those who cried about Cloverfield being PG-13 before it came out. I wonder how they felt after watching it?

I am right there with you Headman, I actually thought Grindhouse as a whole in the theatres was the best movie going experience I had ever had...then Cloverfield came along...

Please, it would be awesome to be able to include more violence! The writers wanted it to be more violent but they made it PG-13. If it's rated R we can get the writers vision, not an edited version of it.

i totally agree with pegassissy on this one

if J. J. Abrams changes the whole first person filming like he said he might it will change the whole mood of the movie

and become a normal, typical monster movie

i am hoping he makes it so much more creative like maybe making it completely 1st person which would be really neat
and switch between characters
like in the manga how he shows how MGP sees
maybe they could make that more interesting

who agrees?

sequel
1st person

yeah, i would like the sequel to open with the moster yanking on the chains, people running around screaming, and then he get away, swims towards ny, and we actually see him knock SoL's head off and then he's on the hunt for some Slusho.

my thoughts

I would like to see a R rated Clover field 2 but i wont happen because rated R movies dont leave a impact on society like a PG-13 movie would. Because along with a PG-13 movie comes toys, contests, maybe a animated series, and many other advantages to make money unlike a rated R movie.

I'm thinking NC-17.

Even MGP has urges.

I don't think most movies should be made with a rating in mind; just make a good movie, then accept whatever rating comes with it.

If changing just a few words gets you a lower rating, then I could understand doing that, but not drastic cuts. As it is, I was somewhat surprised to enjoy Cloverfield as much as I did with its PG-13 rating. I figured it would be too toned-down. I still bet that the original version was better.

Also, I can understand how a PG-13 rating would make a movie available to a wider audience, but it often drives me away. If a horror movie is PG-13, I will definitely not watch it. I love Die Hard's "1" and "3" (haven't seen "2"), but had no interest in the new one, mostly because it was PG-13. Just sayin'.

Edit: Oh, yeah, forgot to answer the question. It really depends on the circumstances within the film itself. I wouldn't mind a PG-13, if it was as good as the first, but an R would definitely make me more excited, and expecting a better movie.

Remember how they said Snakes On A Plane could get an R-rating after interwebians complained enough? It ended up with them adding a couple of breasts and re-shooting for a couple of awkward mf's.

Let's just remember that, in case that whole "They shot a 2nd movie at the same time!!!" theories should somehow be correct.
Smile
