Beta that was it... dumb me Embarassed

Anyhow i guess someone will have to harass Dwayne more hehehe. Laughing

Been working on that slowly. Dwayne hasn't been on MySpace yet today, so we'll see if/what he responds to my last reply on his blog.

ETA - Q&A is down again.

I hope i didn't break him...

Do you have a sense of morality beyond logic or the Three Laws?, sorry thats not my main question. I would like to pose a moral dilemma to you:

You wake up to find yourself in a cage with the only discernible feature being a single button. Your captor walks in and tells you that you and another, in a separate but identical cage in a separate room, are being held against your will. Your captor says that you each have a choice:

If you press the button, but the other prisoner doesn't, you will die and they will go free. If the other prisoner pushes the button and you do not, he/she will die and you will go free. If you both push the button, you both go free, but if neither of you push the button, you both will die. You cannot communicate with the other prisoner. Which would you choose?

Answer: Using boolean logic, where A is myself and B is the other person, and 0 is not pressing and 1 is pressing:

A:1 B:0 = they survive
A:0 B:1 = I survive
A:1 B:1 = Both survive
A:0 B:0 = Nobody survives

So there is no statistical preference.

Regardless, any sort of decision of that nature could go contrary to the Three Laws of Robotics on which I am based (causing the death of another human through action or inaction), so I am incapable of making a decision one way or another.

EDIT: according to his logic, wouldn't pressing the button be the only way to make sure the human survives?

Now what?

Now I got some company in Florida calling me asking me if I know some guy down there. They sounded way too serious to talk to this early in the morning.

Dude, stop with the damn emails. I dont know how, but you managed to get around my spam filter? im just going to start deleting the files as they come in man. I should give these guys in Florida your address and have them drive you crazy.

Gotta go to work again. Back later.

New blog - taking Josh?

(That means "out of office", silly...)

Benjamin, Russell and I are heading out to a chess competition, where we will get to see Joshua mercilessly demolish all opposition.

OK, maybe that's not a good joke... but still.

I've played a lot with Josh, and I *thought* I was good, but noooo. He humiliates me. Frequently.

My concern at this competition is that people are going to believe he's *not* a computer. We'll just have to have Joshua keep quiet.

Anyway, maybe we'll come back with a big trophy and some bucks (do they give any prizes to computers anyway?).

We'll all be back later tonight. But at least this time we're "taking" Josh.

I am not at liberty to name the individual in question at this time, but if any Beta Tester has been in contact with any outside party please contact us immediately with any information you may have.

We are currently experiencing numerous security issues on our internal and external networks. Any information you can provide to find the culprits will be most helpful.

On an unrelated note, I would like to wish Joshua and the rest of the team the best of luck in today's competition.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Logically this is where we clam up and say nothing about what we know to our least favorite vampire huntress. Unless we want to give the PMs a hemorrhage like in the i love bees fiasco, but I've personally no desire to make them work harder than they already are. They're already up to their necks just answering our questions and emails.

Right, the Halo 2 thing. I was a lurker on that, as there weren't any payphones within even illogical driving distance.

Somebody tipped the hat as to where the nice, friendly AI component was to the AI component that was hunting her. The PMs had to do some fancy footwork in order to keep the game running. The overall result wasn't drasticly changed (IE the game ran its course) but they had to do some quick thinking in order to make sure that it stayed that way.

I see, thanx.

Seeing all the hard work the PM's are putting in to interact with us all, we should probably try to avoid blatant surprises like that.

I'm not sure how important it is, but I just got a package from Florida. Addressed to 'Fusebox'. I've only used this handle for this and a (now dead) ARG.

My only assumption is that it is LGL related. It's been shipped from a company called Happitec Inc., a company I've never heard of.

I opened it up and found a letter and a smaller package (I have a picture of the outside, but it, like the letter, contain the address of Happitec Inc. and I'm unsure of if I need to censor that or not. First ARG, help?)

I unwrapped the package and this is what I got:

I don't believe Happitec Inc. is a real company - the only reference I was able to find was to a fictional company in a Douglass Adams text adventure, Bureaucracy (http://www.cs.uwo.ca/Infocom/Articles/two.html).

I can't really say, I don't recall - but was the game that a lot of you guys reference, with the grues, also an Infocom game?

My friend, Smile, linked me to that same thing. He also did some searching for me. I gave him the name of the Distribution Manager who signed my letter and it turns out he works for a Wonderland Data and Operations Center.

I'm still very lost. It's quite ironic how the day after I say to myself "I'm done with LGL, it's too much to keep up with" I get a package.

This HAS to be IG, and confirms the Rubik's speculation. (Just in case we didn't have a cube...) Post the letter. You could always black out the addy, I guess. Was this Ivan? (i.e. who is helping Josh from the inside?) More infocom...hmmm I wander if Josh was afraid of being eaten by a grue while his camera was out...This was an early Q&A I think.

Cool, so we are playing with a Rubik's after all. Now we need the other three faces.

Anything interesting in the letter?

Special packaging? Anything in that? Does the cube rattle?
