I don't know if my browser is being wonky or if it is something but today when I opened the redloyola.com site, there is a grey border around the main block logo and the navigation buttons like someone put in new graphics but didn't size them correctly.

Is that happening with anyone else?

Looks fine here.

It is still possible that email from codemonkey is not for this ARG?

And the RGB code: I don't see it at all.
trying testUser Now I see it.

Isn't that a webbot function with the <! at the beginning of it?

It's case sensitive: you have to log in as "testUser" with a capital "u".

Context

It seems from the email that if the letter code is about chess that it would be either a closing portion of a chess game or a portion just prior to closing of game.

After I take a nap and get some more coffee in me I'll take another look at it.
Still researching stuff.
Coffeebean plz get mort on these... He's one of the best researchers I've seen =P.
I think there is still a bunch of background stuff we're missing.

It's a standard HTML comment tag.

cm327

Have we tried contacting codemonkey327 to validate his emails?
Does anyone know of a way to find user information from a gmail account?

Reading through the source code of the redloyola login page I think that
R+G-BHR*B-RdB might be code for the login name and
2+RaG-B-GjB-G might be the password

(this is just instinct talking.)

I think so too...is testUser a standard thing to do when someone makes a login? Just wondering why that was typed in? And that's the only time that code shows up?

Losing my mind probably, but the photos on alex's flickr page:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/

say that they were

?? Didn't they say Mar5th before? And he didn't go on this trip until Feb 26th??

Click on the set of photos "vuelo a uea" http://www.flickr.com/photos/23520195@N07/sets/72157604036480869/

and it says this

I am going to send Stephanie an email asking about Alex's computer AND don't you think it's odd that there is NO pictures of Alex? I am going to ask to see a picture of the person we are supposed to be looking for!

email to steph

Sent email to Steph (Thurs, Mar 13th, -4GMT, (5pm Ohio)):

Quote:
hi Stephanie,
It seems that there is alot of information missing regarding Alex. Some of that could be located on his computer, that he left with you. Maybe you could check his computer for anything that looks suspicious, or helpful. Our group is particularly good at decoding information, so if you come across any files that need looked at, feel free to send them.

I am having a few problems with the dates. What day did he actually go to Atlanta? What day was he last heard from? And any other details, like where he called from last, did he rent a car in Atlanta?, where was he supposed to be staying? Hotel?

And it would be really helpful if we could get a picture of Alex.

Thanks,
BettyLou

updates

My chessmaster friend says R+G-BHR*B-RdB/2+RaG-B-GjB-G is absolutely no form of chess annotation that he knows of. Which is does not discount the theory it just means it's going to be harder to get something meaningful out of it.

Giving each letter a number value
R+G-B H R*B-R d B/2+R a G-B-G j B-G
is W H R T A X J U (doesn't look like anything to me)
just throwing ideas out there

btw the format matches no cipher formats I know of. It could be a box cipher but I highly doubt it.

How did you get WHRTAXJU ? I don't follow your process...

Edit - Here's a more numerical breakdown of the code:

Total characters: 27
Character frequency:
R:4, G:4, B:5, H:1, d:1, a:1, j:1, +:2, -:5, *:1, /:1, 2:1

Number of times this code has stumped me: too many.

If by a player... It can be a nice move.

Very cool. This gives an interesting light to the story. What would Alex need to run from?

On the note of running, I don't think we're getting anywhere with the code. I think we should take a step back and look at all of our clues, see if we've overlooked something.

Is it possible the code is a red herring?

The craigslist posting was me. I've also sent an email to the codemonkey address, but neither have garnered any useful leads yet.

As for the code - if it was indeed representative of colors, maybe it could be related to this pic from alexloyola.com:
http://alexloyola.com/pics/blokus.jpg

I'm not sure what the lowercase letters could mean. Perhaps RaG = red and green?
