I'm feeling so torn about that post. While I'm a bit annoyed at how long it took them to get word, I also realize that we haven't really been helping them pay the bills. While I'm glad they're apparently well, I'm also a bit annoyed at how when given a choice, we came last. While I appreciate that it takes an insane amount of time for them to keep up the quality of the story, it hurts how they didn't even give an ingame excuse for delaying the story just short of the climax. Hell, I know I'm being selfish and cranky over free entertainment that took up a small but significant part of my life. My crotchetiness is a love song to them, and how much I miss their storytelling. Here's looking to a triumphant return when they're ready, and to the continued success of GMD. Cool

I personally don't understand why people seem willing to give GMD a free pass on this one. Yes, I appreciate the message, but for me it is too little too late. There is absolutely nothing to stop GMD from doing this again down the road, and quite simply I'd rather not be a party to it. I can never allow myself to believe in the hype again.

It's a hard thing to try to realize what exactly is going on with the world of EE these days... and I do have to agree with Dante about the sudden disappearance just short of the climax and no acknowledgement OOG of what is going on exactly... it did rather disappoint me that they waited this long to acknowledge what was going on and in a rather wishy-washy way since it was not exactly the most clear of statements. I love this game and I intend to continue playing it when it returns, but I sincerely hope that the PM's take note of our frustrations and should something like this ever happen again that they give us some sort of OOG indication much sooner that things might be headed downhill for a little bit so that we aren't constantly checking like the crazed addicts that we are only to be met with false hopes... Sad Nonetheless hopefully we'll see a successful return soon now that we have some official recognition of what's been going on and that we will all get to enjoy the world of EE once again!

are we done crying in our beers yet? there's still plenty of book 3 content to dig through, unless everyone feels like they've got the bryce files nailed down? how about the whole mars nodens thing, did we put together all the pieced on that yet? There's still plenty to keep us occupied. if we can manage to see through the tiny, tiny, tears, that is...

I'm with Obtuse on this. If we can figure out what to put in the Wiki while we wait then at least it will help us stay our hands against GMD. Today I had a surge of sadness... I really miss EE more than I ever thought I would. You will soon see the fruits of that labor... I hope it helps immortalize EE in a way that, even if it has details about the players wrong, captures the events of the game in an amazing and somewhat accurate way.

I think I'm out, alas. I'll still lurk and delete spam from the wiki, but at this point I can't see myself investing the effort into this. Maybe if they win back my trust and interest, sure, but not now. *Sigh*

I'm not going to give anyone a free pass for this, considering all the confusion and angst could have been averted if someone at GMD would have just posted this information way back in the first week of delay. I think we're pretty understanding as long as we're kept informed of the situation.

That said, I'll still be there when EE comes back from whatever's causing this hiatus because I'm so in love with the storytelling and characters so far. You've got me like the junkie I am, damn you. Hopefully it's sooner than later!

An out-of-game blog or even IRC communication has much less weight for me than a single post on the Sentry Outpost forum would have done, whether it be by Howard (i'm not dead, i'm just under contract) or by Art (in whatever capacity makes sense). Their silence is drowning out whatever official statement can be made. A single post, to give the illusion that their lives are continuing without us, that's all I ask.

yes, i'm still lurking, partially out of morbid curiosity as to how this train wreck gets back on track, partially out of love for the product. If I can compartmentalize my personal feelings well enough, I'll return to the game, but I may have to alter my "character" to make it work.

It's so sad to see EE removed from the "What's Hot" links on ARGnet. Crying or Very sad

I came across the ARG Mortuary in Forum index » Meta » Various & Sundry. I added a post. If anyone wants to elaborate feel free. I couldn't.

Brian responds to the dog collar, hiatus: http://www.schmeldritch.com/2008/04/dog-houses-rpgs-and-pudding.html
Brian Clark wrote:
I'm in the doghouse, and I deserve to be. I'm not sure I'll make the dog collar a permanent fashion accessory (we're pretty casual around here for such elaborate bling), but it is appropriate in the short term. When clients ask me why I'm wearing a dog collar with a tag labeled "Providence," I'll explain to them that some really important people wanted to remind me that my clients are taking me away from what I'm supposed to be doing.

One day, I'll tell you the story about how the Poet snagged the Puppetmaster, the Sculptor and the Cultist up into a mad scientist project, all while Sploit got sucked into some kind of psychological testing project. Lesson: even a deep team bench can be devestated by the realities of people chasing a living (the flip side being, of course, it is so much easier if someone is paying you a wage and telling you it is your job.)

Solutions: an even deeper team bench and a recontemplation of what it means to provision them. Armchair quarterbacking yourself mid-recovery is gauche, though, and I'm already in the Lovecraftian doghouse. Why bring a knife to a rocket propelled grenade launcher fight?

Your outpouring of friendly support is amazing, and has barely felt like stalking at all! I'm humbled by it and don't take any of you for granted. I've missed you too. The pre-production wheels are already in motion of making sure we earned that support, although the proof will be in the pudding.

I'll take that as hope. Smile

I'm sincerely hoping that the same thing will be true as well... I sincerely miss the mysteries of our friendly neighborhood Lovecraftian horror nightmare and am glad to see another official recognition of sorts, particularly after all of our fun little "gifts"... I'm just sad that I lost a dear part of my memorabilia for this book when I had my book 1 coin stolen along with my jacket (since I always carried that coin on me as a friendly reminder of what I was dealing with and a nice lucky charm! Cool ) Oh well, I know they'll be other coins in the future (fingers crossed) and a lot more fun as "the pre-production wheels" continue on their turning trend! Here's to hoping for some awesome fun times in the near future! Very Happy

Schmeldritch update!
news!

Stickler that I am about organizing threads, I'm bumping the Schmeldritch thread for the update you might have heard about elsewhere.

Before the Screaming Commences
Quote:
Long time, no schmeldritch ... how the hell are you supposed to tell when we're being quiet on purpose and when it means something is kicking, you ask? When I feel compelled to get a quick laundry list out of details out, I guess. Bad puppetmaster!

Some of you might have heard that the lovely offices of GMD Studios were burgled during the summer -- who'd have thought having walls of glass were a security risk! Most notably, they stole a number of computers (including the one with the list of people to send Book 2 coins too, so we're going to need your help to recollect that information.) Most bizarrely, they stole all the extra Book 1 coins laying around the various rooms -- I can only imagine their disappointment when they tried to pawn them. A pox of crickets on their households!

Even more important, though, is a bit of pre-announcement on the Eldritch 3 Reboot. One of my goals for the Eldritch universe was always to have a structure flexible enough that we could have "guest puppetmasters" conduct entire Books in the sequence, much the way guest directors might helm an episode of an established television series. In this case, that means the best I'll be able to credit myself on this Book is as "series creator" or maybe "executive producer". Who's helming it then, you ask?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Brooke Thompson and Jan Libby. Boy are you guys in for a (trick or) treat. See you in the intermission ...

Anything in there we care to discuss? The spoiler block is in plaintext in the blog post; i just figured it might be too curtain-y for some.
