Hmm. Could also be
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The Center for American History

I can be down there in 10 minutes, but they don't open until 9.

And so... what happened???

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
yes- I checked the Center for American History first because it would be open at 9, only they weren't open: closed there for spring break, being connected to the University of Texas. But I peeked in the window at the reading room and counted rows and shelves of books and then went over to the Austin History Center feeling pretty glum as I was sure it would be the wrong one. I had a while to wait there since it doesn't open until 10. Staring at the frescos on the ceiling in front of the door there, I noticed that the was a winged horse in pattern and the wing looks like the middle image on the left side of the document Ariadne found yesterday. I drank too much coffee while waiting. When they opened I went in and asked the guy at the desk for assistance finding the book. And he was surprised and told me to go to the water fountain. So I left, came back and then found the book, took some photos (probably not good quality- too much caffeine to hold aged camera still) and made some photocopies. Pored over the pages examining smudges and took notes. Turns out I might have saved some time by just jotting down the number on the bottom of the second page. FMG was able to use it to find http://164.109.150.213/PRUVO/JR01/SPL7/AG2I/JR28/1FB7.PDF

I noticed that while googling the IP last night. I checked del.icio.us, and the secret's IP has been bookmarked by a few people there, so I think this site has just pulled that content from del.icio.us. --joeyhess

Another interpretation of Delphi?

"When you are ready to receive data look to Delphi"...

[SPEC] I wonder if we are perhaps taking the Delphi connection too literally. Yes, Delphi was considered "the centre of the earth and the universe" (according to the Wikipedia article on Delphi). However, part of its importance springs from the location there of the Delphic oracle, Pythia. Perhaps we are not necessarily to look to the physical location of Delphi, but to the oracle? Could the "secret site" be considered an oracle? Could the Codex be considered an oracle? Interestingly, in the article on Pythia, Wikipedia says of the oracle, "Its last recorded response was given in 393 AD, when the emperor Theodosius I ordered pagan temples to cease operation." That is the same year he banned the Olympic Games.

mmacdonald - As another New Zealander I've dropped you an email. There's plenty you can get involved with from way over here, and I'm happy to discuss the game further with you...

I think the one you're seeing, is for Dongying, China. It was identified by Sapagoo a couple of days ago, while still red. It turned green last night, and has been activated as Omphalos #3. You can read more about it here.

Dot hunting...
with a nighttime map resource.

Here is an interactive nighttime map of the world found online
http://www-static.cc.gatech.edu/~pesti/night/
The "Night map" button shows the city names.

Hopefully it can help pinpoint some locations.

I'm seeing yellow dots in north east Canada. Imputing the codex command still only defines green and red. Any thoughts on what yellow means?

The red dot is near the opposite North American coast. I think it may be the one identified in Boise...

Location: Far Far Away. Nowhere Near You. Really.

BTW - FMG, and anyone else who managed to get on Eli's good side - any hint how he found out about this site?

And a note for people who haven't played one of these before - often such games develop a regular 'update' schedule. Tuesdays and Fridays are popular - release a new thread of the story, or a new puzzle or 12, and then step back for a few days while players chew on it. This game is new enough not to be able to tell if this sort of mechanism will be in use, although Jasper's report that the librarian said they were supposed to put out the special book on Tuesday smacks of a scheduled update. Which maybe we got ahead of. Or something.

On the other hand, with six athletes and Larissa, there's so much potential for interaction I wonder if content update will be that limited. Hopefully there will be plenty of social interaction with each of the characters while we wait for game updates.
