Simplicity

From Wikipedia:

* a palm is the width of four fingers
* a foot is the width of four palms (i.e. 12 inches)
* a cubit is the width of six palms
* a man's height is four cubits (and thus 24 palms)
* a pace is four cubits
* the length of a man's outspread arms is equal to his height
* the distance from the hairline to the bottom of the chin is one-tenth of a man's height
* the distance from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin is one-eighth of a man's height
* the maximum width of the shoulders is a quarter of a man's height
* the distance from the elbow to the tip of the hand is one-fifth of a man's height
* the distance from the elbow to the armpit is one-eighth of a man's height
* the length of the hand is one-tenth of a man's height
* the distance from the bottom of the chin to the nose is one-third of the length of the head
* the distance from the hairline to the eyebrows is one-third of the length of the face
* the length of the ear is one-third of the length of the face

This might help:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cubit

Quote:
The Vitruvian Man
Vitruvius, the architect, says in his work on architecture that the measurements of the human body are as follows that is that 4 fingers made 1 palm, and 4 palms make 1 foot, 6 palms make 1 cubit; 4 cubits make a man's height. And 4 cubits make one pace and 24 palms make a man. The length of a man's outspread arms is equal to his height. From the roots of his hair to the bottom of his chin is the tenth of a man's height; from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head is one eighth of his height; from the top of the breast to the roots of the hair will be the seventh part of the whole man. From the nipples to the top of the head will be the fourth part of man. The greatest width of the shoulders contains in itself the fourth part of man. From the elbow to the tip of the hand will be the fifth part of a man; and from the elbow to the angle of the armpit will be the eighth part of man. The whole hand will be the tenth part of the man. The distance from the bottom of the chin to the nose and from the roots of the hair to the eyebrows is, in each case the same, and like the ear, a third of the face.

Identity

..."It is prophesied that when the end comes, it will come in darkness: a catastrophe all foresaw but few believed.
Most of us will battle too late against the chaos, but not the few, the radical few, who obey no discipline. Unencumbered by conscience, they prepare ruthlessly pursuing their own preservation.
If they survive, the rest of us perish"...

64 f (feet?) = 256p
a = 24p
theta/beta = 3/6 = 1/2
(beta+gamma)/a = (3+6)/24 = 9/24 = 3/8

256*24*1/2*3/8 = 1152
Look right?

navier-stokes equations

Hi --
I've been lurking the last few days.
The equations on Identity pic look like navier-stokes equations used in fluid mechanics.

I'm thinking 64 F(ingers)=16P(alms)

Looks reasonable. Also from elbow to fingertip is said to be 1/5 height, but it's also a cubit isn't it, which would be 4p.

64f = 16p
a = 24p
theta = 1/8 a = 3p
beta = either 1/5 a = 25/5p or a = 4p 6p
gamma = 1/8 a = 3p

So, now I'm getting either 84 or 72 depending on the value of Beta.

Simplicity....

64f=16p
a=24p
(24p * 1/8 )/(24p * 1/5 ) = ?
((24p * 1/5 )+(24p * 1/8 ) )/(24p)=?

am i on the right track...or have i confused myself...again???

I got the figures from the wiki article i posted above

If we restructured it with f=fingers it would be

64 f = 16p
a = 24p
theta/beta = 3/6 = 1/2
(beta+gamma)/a = (3+6)/24 = 9/24 = 3/8

16*24*1/2*3/8 = 72

Toasty and Pacinto did all the work, credit to them, all i did was swap 1 number

That's what I got, and it was all Toasty

And still you got there before me. Smile

So, 72 looks like the nice answer. If it doesn't work then 78 (check my math first though).

Identity.... Ahhh Calculus!!! I thought I slew that beast! It says "Identify": I think it might be some sort of proof or theorem that we need to name...it looks familiar but i can't quite remember, its been too long since I forsake the engineering major....

Observation on clarity - it would appear that the ring of cards corresponds to the circle the dogs are in, 1 card per dog. Hope that wasn't too obvious, but I'm going for the low-hanging fruit first. Smile Oh, and what is the T seal on that page?
