Well no, the front is the same pic sure, but the text is different and the sidebar is black, on your pic it was wrapped around from the front.
Plus we can't see the back, that was the biggest bone of contention.

To be a touch more precise, easter eggs are any kind of hidden feature on a DVD. Some are videos, still images, games... and even a combination of all of the above. Basically they can create a whole separate submenu of stuff on a DVD if they like.
If any of those easter eggs MGP posted are valid, my suspicion is that they'd include more than just 4 of the JLT videos as implied there. It's interesting to see the list of Tagruato news videos too. I know we had more than 4 languages of those pop up. If they don't include ALL of the online content, this suggests to me that they might be trying to drive DVD buyers to find more of the content online - which would suggest a desire to continue some sort of online campaign for Cloverfield's subsequent products.
Interesting.
I do hope the release price isn't nearly $30 though.

I don't like the cover art either, but I'm buying the special edition anyway.

Dissapointed???
what other design would they use?
THIS image is something that immediately attracts interest and this is the image that Cloverfield is known by.
why are people whining.
it's just the cover of a DVD box.
