I've gotten a little behind in reporting my email interactions so I'm not sure how important any of them will be...

I wrote the following to Ron (TT's webmaster):
Quote:
I found your site after looking into Urban Hunt. Both Urban Hunt and
Your Money or Your Wife look like they will be quite interesting. I
was wondering if there were any plans to start a Tomorrow's Talk
newsletter to announce show updates? If so, I'd like to be included
on the newsletter list. Thanks!

varin

I received the standard auto-reply and then a personal reply:
Quote:
Hi Varin,

I'm glad you are interested in our two upcoming shows. I think they
both are really going to excite audiences everywhere once they hit the
air.

We don't have any current plans to produce a newsletter for Tomorrow's
Talk. We try to use our website to keep everyone up-to-date with news
and information about our shows as much as possible.

I sure hope you didn't send this suggestion to anyone else at
Tomorrow's Talk because I've got a feeling that, if they like the idea,
somehow it's going to become my job to actually get it done. Wink

Ron Daubert, webmaster
rdaubertSPLATtomorrowstalk.com

So I sent:
Quote:
I'm sorry to hear that there won't be a newsletter, but you don't have to worry - I won't make the suggestion to anyone else there at Tomorrow's Talk. Smile I'll just keep my eye on the TT site for updates. Thanks!

Varin

Anyone else feel like making the suggestion to one of the TT higher ups? Twisted Evil

But...Varin....That would just be wrong....Making that guy take on extra work, for no more pay....It would just be evil....

So...I'll e-mail then tonight.

Well if I ever get a call back from Sandra Brown, The director of Human Resources, I'll kind of slide that comment in. Mind you x_X considering I said I was in Marketing Research she's liable never to call back

Apparently Richard Meyer doesn't work at TT anymore...

I'm guessing it probably does - my email was to rmeyerSPLATtomorrowstalk.com, and it was helpSPLATtomorrowstalk.com that picked it up.

This was posted in another thread, however it holds true to this thread so I will post it here also.

The receptionist stuttered a couple of moments, and then asked me to repeat the name, as if he did know who Mr. Silver was. I repeated back the name, and added as an afterthought "That would be Mr. Joseph Silver, head of productions". He then asked me to hold on while passing me by to his voicemail.

Jolly Good show Mr. Sundstorm ^_~! Now we have account from at least three people that these receptionists obviously have no idea what they're talking about. I find this VERY interesting. What kind of a receptionist doesn't know the names of their superiors.

So far in this game I have emailed many people, and I haven't even gotten an automated responce from any of them. But as for calling this company (Who seems to be open to all hours of the night, on labour day no less) we should still to the same company name, and plead a heavy case. Calling at least a few times a day just to show that we mean business and that we're really looking for answers.

Things we need answered are:
1. The name of the old Webmaster and any contact information of his. (If they're curious as to why you're asking, say something like your company was interested in accquiring his services because of the excellent job he did on the TT webpage. Kissing Corprate ass always works)
2. Whether or not they plan on updating the public on their upcomming television shows (via eletronic newsletter for example).
3. If Richard Meyer still works at the company and if not, ask if he has left any contact info. If they tell you that he doesn't, and then ask to why you're curious, just act sympathetic and say that it was recommended you talk to him through one of your business partners. ...If they start asking questions, divert them.

Feel free to call and ask one, two or all three of these questions. If you get anywhere, please post.

Ron finally answered the SURVIVOR question

Okay, the original email to Ron is at the beginning of this topic. We were trying to find out if he was a survivor of DreadHouse and who wrote the autoresponder for the Urban Hunt Online Application. Here is his response. I like his sense of humor. I'm thinking of playing the 'flirt card' with him.

Quote:
Hi Heather,

It's great you are so enthusiastic about our upcoming new show Urban
Hunt. The Online Advisor position in particular seems to be generating
a lot of interest and excitement and we've literally received hundreds
of applications for the position. It's a shame that not everyone who
applied can be picked to be Online Advisors but there just aren't
enough positions available. Good luck in being chosen.

You know, a few people have written me about the Urban Hunt responder
and some peculiarities they have found with it. I really don't know who
drafted the auto-reply message however, since a good deal of the work
on UH was started before I got here. I do know that I seem to be the
person responsible for the current company autoresponders (not the
employee ones obviously) so I would imagine the person formerly in my
position might have been doing the same thing back then. But, like I
said, I'm not certain of that.

Sorry that wasn't more helpful.

Ron Daubert, webmaster
rdaubertSPLATtomorrowstalk.com

PS - I did see the little "secret" message in your e-mail. Very cute.
I'm not sure what it means, any more than I know what the one in the
autoresponder might mean, but cute nevertheless. You inspired me to re-
write my reply in a similar manner.

"No, I'm not sure who wrote that autoresponder. Only recently did I
start working here. There was a lot of work done on Urban Hunt before I
came to Tomorrow's Talk.

Hopefully you will have luck with your Online Advisor position.
Advisors should have a lot of fun, although there are many more
applicants than there are roles. To get a call would be very exciting.
Shame I can't play!

By the way, a few other people have noticed the peculiarities in the
responder as well. Understandably this has a lot of folks confused
about what's going on. Right now I don't have any answers. Normally
whoever holds the Webmaster position would be in charge of the
autoresponders. Either the guy who used to have my job did it or one of
his supervisors did. That's conjecture on my part and I don't know if
there's a way to find out for sure.

Thanks,

Ron Daubert"

Here is my reply.

Ron,

Thanks for the laugh Smile You seem very sweet.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Online Advisor slot - any way to tell how they are going to make the selection since there are only a certain number of slots? Any one I should talk to in order to increase my chances?

Regarding the autoresponder - do you know who was the webmaster before you were hired (by the way, when did you take over this position)? Any way you can help me get in touch with this person?

How long has TT had a website? Did they have a different website back in late 2002, early 2003?

Thanks for answering my questions - and for your creativity.

*kiss*

LOL nice.

Mark Burnett was the creator of "Survivor", the first, wildly popular, reality show. He pretty much invented the reality show genre, and set off a huge wave of reality shows which are popular to this day.

Since Urban Hunt is a reality show too, he was alluding to the mother of all reality shows- "Survivor".

One might think he "chose" to interpret it as her asking, "Are you the guys who did Survivor?" And of course his response, "No, that's (Mark)Burnett."

Very clever. I am amused as heck. Smile

*We should probably leave the receptionists alone because the officials don't want to talk to us.
*The Urban Hunt site will be updated soon
*They are going through the UH apps

I received a response to this email from the post above

Quote:

to worry - I won't make the suggestion to anyone else there at
Tomorrow's Talk. Smile I'll just keep my eye on the TT site for updates.

Quote:
Hi Varin,

Thanks for understanding about the newsletter and for not passing the
suggestion on to anyone else. Actually, the bigshots here all seem too
busy to be bothered with something like that right now anyway. Something
has them a little excited and even more on edge than normal.

I'm not exactly sure what is going on, besides the sudden flurry of
attention to our websites due to the Urban Hunt Casting Call and Press
Releases we've done. Our e-mail traffic has gone through the roof! I know
that we are getting flooded with phone calls too and that the
receptionists are getting frustrated with the company officials not
wanting to take any calls. So a request for a newsletter would probably
fall on deaf ears right about now.

My main reason for writing though is to let you know that you should keep
an eye on the Urban Hunt website too, because that one is probably going
to be updated before the main Tomorrow's Talk site. They actually had me
stay late the last couple of days, helping to go through the Contestant
Application materials we've received for Urban Hunt, and trying to figure
out if there is anything we can use on the site now. So there should
hopefully be some new information and material there soon.

Thanks again for your e-mail. Take care

Summary:
The beginning of the flirting appears to be going well.
Couldn't help improve my chances of being chosen as an Online Advisor.
All files pertaining to the reality show(s) are encrypted and the password is in the memo (hint: go back and look at that memo "jc" gave us).
Everyone is really busy (hint: stop bugging the receptionists?)
There are a lot of "new" people around TT (did they have a major cleanout of previous management after the fiasco of DH??)
Previous webmaster's name was "Ed". He said he'd try to find out how to contact him.

I plan to reply to him tomorrow - gonna ask him about some disks, and if he knows anything about our missing Richard Meyer and Greg Boyle.

And continue to flirt. Wink

Quote:
Hi Heather,

No need to thank me for that little "secret" message; I had fun making it
up and knowing it made you laugh is more than enough thanks.

I'm sorry I can't give you tips on how they are going to choose the Online
Advisors for Urban Hunt or anyone to talk to to better your chances. They
keep information like that tighty under wraps around here. I guess it is a
necessity of the reality show business or something but they seem a little
overboard with the whole secrecy thing. All the files that are passed
around about the new shows are actually encrypted and you need a password to open them up. I haven't quite figured it out yet but they have this system set up where the password is actually in the e-mail or cover letter you receive with the files. Is that crazy or what?

Just the hazards of the job, I guess, as is working late, which I've done
the last two days trying to get things done. Suddenly there is a ton of
work to do, and it doesn't help that the bosses all seem to have gone into
hiding, not answering calls or even e-mails in many cases. So it all falls
down on the rest of us to get things done.

I'm not sure who the webmaster was before me although I know his name was Ed. That's another thing that the people around here have been almost strangely quiet about too, but maybe that's because so many of them are relatively new here like me. How to get in touch with this Ed? Who knows? But I'll see if I can find out anything else about him.

Sorry but I've got to run. It's later than I thought. Take care.

Absolutely fantastic work, Varin and konamouse! Progress at last. Very Happy

So we know we need to
- look closer at the memo as there is *definitely* a password hidden in it
- watch the Urban Hunt site like hawks
- find Ed
- stop calling TT

Easy-peasy! Rolling Eyes

Seriously though, this is great progress.
