So I'm guessing that this bit from the video:
Code:
So for instance, a traveler going from the omphalos at Delphi to the city of Thebes would be told to travel 540 stadia, or nearly 100 kilometers, in the direction of Sagittarius, or Artemis, on an angle of 0 degrees. But if the traveler were heading instead to Thermopylae, the address would be 162 stadia Virgo, or Demeter, on a 10 degree angle.

is describing the Greek that we see in this image?

j5 translated the picture as this:
From Delphi
Thebai (Thebes)
40 and 500 stadia, Artemis 0 degrees (540 stadia)
Thermopylai (Thermopylae)
two and sixty and one hundred stadia, wheat delta degrees (162 stadia, 10 degrees)

I think, the origin of that Zodiac picture we should find with this site:
http://www.johnpratt.com/items/docs/lds/meridian/2005/zodiac.htm
(Sorry if posted)
The texts of John Pratt could btw. help us (well I haven't read it yet, so no guarantee now Smile)

Couple quick questions. In the map that goes with the podcats:
http://olympics.wikibruce.com/images/8/8c/Map-Omphalos.jpg
why does one circle have 10 sections and the other have 6 when he is describing the 12 sections of the zodiac? Also, neither seems to be aligned with north, or with each other for that matter. Is this a section of a flat map or a globe? One more thing - could the way the net is draped over the omphalos suggest the way we are supposed figure bearings (constant bearing vs. initial heading and great circle)?

Zodiac compass

Don't wanted to start a new thread, so I post it here.

One can find the zodiac image of the Eli podcast easily with google. This zodiac compass (or clock) has the same design, as the background in the trailer 1 where Eli speaks. Both have the numbers 1000 and 2000 on the left bottom.

Is this important? I would guess, yes. I have found a website where this topic is discussed, but I have not understood much of this astronomical essay. Only that there is a drift of 1° in 72 years. But I do not know what is drifting and in relation to what, but the 1000 and 2000 marks on the images gives an impression on this drift.
Perhpas other people want to learn somthing about all those astronomy stuff:
http://www.johnpratt.com/items/docs/sidereal/sidereal.html

This page explains also that "our Omphalos code" is still used in astronomy magazines Smile

Re:Zodiac Wheel

I have been looking at this as well...

The inner area seems to be numbered as a clock....12 at the the top 06 at the bottom etc...and does not rotate it seems.

The outter wheel rotates around the center and has the number -1000, -2000, 0, 1000, 2000 on it.

It also has an area between it and the inner dial that has a colored area going from white to gray to black...these colored areas seem to be sectioned off every 30 degrees.

The is also a slim colored area outside of the outter wheel.

Here are a few pics....
