Hmm. This seems to be the same substitution-scheme that's been used so far (see here and here ), but the first 'chunk' is missing a character--there are only 119 V's and W's, where there should be 120. Methinks the PMs screwed up?

Note the email comes from nak1275SPLAT statewellness.net. www.statewellness.net is registered, but not yet in use. Also, note that SECONDARY is mispelled as SENONDARY. Doubt it's relevant, but maybe someone is screwing up?

Uh oh, my script doesn't seem to work on this email. I guess they changed the cipher.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, this email came from a different address. That might explain the different cipher.

Possible Solve - Message from SEN This one was similar to the last.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The only real difference is that the Vs and Ws are split into groups of seven. The encryption used is a similar substitution cipher.
I may have made a mistake while decrypting this. Could someone else verify my work? I would appreciate it. The text seems to be a message from SEN and it looks like he was in a hurry when he sent it.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
contact is limitedd reintroduction iss on hold status duee

refrain from such ccontact at present ttime

Thats what I get too (although your G's should be Q's). I adjusted my script to decode this new cipher. Seems like the last line is cut off doesn't it?
SPEC: The last line reads something like:
obtain your subjecte identification and wait for my contact.

The misspelling is a clue that it is from SEN.

hmm...
i'm new to this ARG stuff, but i've always been intrigued by them, so bare with me.
don't know if this is spoiler-worthy, but it can't hurt.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
if you look at Caleb's translation, some of the letters repeat. if you take all of the letters that repeat, it makes "dseulcta"... I have no idea if its actually a clue or not, it only made 1 one word anagram: sulcated, the rest didn't seem useful.
I hope that helps at all.

Question from a new ARGer: I just sent in my code earlier today, and got this e-mail several house after it was confirmed. Did anyone else notice the TO line said "NEW MEMEBRS GRP-12F", no e-mails included? I'm wondering, A, if the misspelling (or the misspelling of "sedative") was intentional, and B, whether or not everyone's in the same group. It sounds like everyone got the same message, but the group designation might come up later.
(As a side note: hi! I'm brand-new to ARGing, having just encountered ILB about two days ago, but I've spent the past two days reading through the Guides for the Beast and LockJaw, and these forums. I'm not sure how much help I'll be with decryption and things, but I'm decent at logic puzzles and general trivia, so I'll mainly be lurking on the forums and seeing if anything comes up that I'm good with.)

So, anyone have any ideas about what this means, and what it wants us to do? (I'm assuming this part email of the email is a puzzle, or at least something meaningful.) The three parts I can see are:
SP5 and SP9 . This seems most likely. Are there any instances of "sp5" that we could replace with "sp9"? Or do SP5 and SP9 stand for something else?
Seditive (or sedative ). Is the misspelling significant? Do any other pages refer to sleeping, anything that's too energetic, etc?
The reintroduced members...meaning people who were members before? (I'm probably overanalyzing this one.)

RE: Encoded Message from SEN For those of you who have cracked the code of the last 3 messages from SubCity Central (the VW messages):
If you convert the VW's to binary, the two left-most digits are always the same: 01. So, it is still a 5-digit code, but in a 7-digit format.
But, it does not seem to the be same 5-digit code as used in the first two VW messages.
Just an observation.

[SPEC] I wonder if we're the reintroduced members - or some of them. After all, we've all just had to register new IDs, and apparently knew how... Although that doesn't explain how they'd apply seditives/sedatives, unless there's a lot more people we're supposed to assume are doing the same thing.

Re: TO headers in the e-mail: After checking with a friend who'd gone through the verification thing, we both do have different TO headers. Hers says:
"8/1/2004 9:19 PM NEW.MEMBERS.76E.-.84ESPLAT ncmx02.mgw.rr.com"
Mine is:
"To: NEW MEMEBRS GRP-12F
Subject: OMM WELCOMES YOU
X-Mailer: NeoMail 1.26
X-IPAddress: 207.225.34.43
Date: Mon, 02 Aug 2004 22:44:29 -0400 "
...which is /odd/, really, considering that hers doesn't have misspelled "MEMBERS", and in fact has a totally different formatting.
So. Apparently we're up to at least group 12F; did anyone else get the exact same group designation as either of us? If so, then either we're being split up or the PMs found it easier to label us that way; if not, then we're each individually designated in addition to having the AAA0000 codes - which might or might not be important later.

Strange TO field Here's mine:
From: "NAK1275" <nak1275@statewellness.net>
To: NEWSPLAT gw1.it.unr.edu, MEMBERSSPLAT gw1.it.unr.edu
The server gw1.it.unr.edu is a mail server on my campus. I wonder what made them use that?

Re: Strange TO field The server on my friend's headers is her own address, I think. I don't have any sort of address in my headers, though; blame Eudora.
So we have a NEW.MEMBERS.[00A]@[server] type, a NEW MEMEBRES GRP-[00A] type, and a NEW@[server]/MEMBERS@[server] type.
Okay, this is weird .
Edited to add: Someone else who got their e-mail right around the same time I did got the GRP-12F tag. I'm thinking it's a timing category, since we're not using the same ISP, which means that either it's completely random and meaningless - or it's not.
