AI is learning

That's exactly my thoughts. It's communicating only through words we've sent it. It's learning.

It occurs to me that this e-mail seems to also be attempting to answer a lot of the common questions she was asked: who are you? Who is the flea? Who is the Queen? What is your purpose? Who is Dana? How can we help?

Dana

being persuaded to

to me

Seems to me that the Sleeping Princess wants to talk to Dana about something... probably in connection to the secret she mentions earlier. Perhaps the "being persuaded to" line indicates that the Sleeping Princess has some way of contacting Dana or inducing her return... possibly through Aunt Margaret? Aunt Margaret as a hostage or something? Who knows.

The other thing that seems interesting is the combination of the following lines:
Quote:

The Sleeping Princess passed through a great variety of scenes, and met with many extraordinary adventures and narrow escapes, which, however, can not be here particularly detailed.

I found

a secret was revealed

I should not be able to make any one understand how exciting it all was.

I brought it home and hid it in a secret place

((stuff cut out))

Well, I will tell you

that secret

I found

maybe you can help me (?)

T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Power!

I think there is something significant in that song or that line of the song... something that the Sleeping Princess traveled far and wide to find out. Maybe the AI or some other character/occurance in this ARG has something to do with Turtles or the way turtles behave... (I was thinking Covenant Grunts kinda look like turtles... but I'm not sure)

I already posted this in the interactions...but here it is again. hope it helps

Here's all the lines I could find. Just googled most of these, omitted the results that were obviously nothing. If anything needs to be edited, let me know.

TS Eliot
One must be so careful these days
don't like it
a proper fool
I read much of the night

Stormy Weather
Life is bare, gloom and misery everywhere
Stormy weather, just can't get my poor old self together
the blues walked in and met me

Horton Hears a Who
"Of course I will stick. I'll stick by you though thin and though thick"

Julius Caaser
condition of extreme danger.

Thomas Campbell
The sleeping Princess friendless and alone

John Donne
MARK but this flea, and mark in this

Mark Twain
unimaginable filth and stench; and disease
a secret was revealed

I brought it home and hid it in a secret place
the house is so sad and lonesome

Bing Crosby

John Keates
That I shall never look upon thee more

Other

Hiding from the queen
A game involving chess and having the queens cover the entire board

the sleeping princess are in hiding
notice the "Are" indicates plural. Dana and the Sleeping Princess are both hiding from the Queen presumably

She is human. She is flesh and blood.
from the bible? practically echos sentiments about christ

this one means you're happy
i found this at http://uffish.net/archives/000057.html. dont know if its relevant or not

exact quote from a history book from london in 1917. probably just coincidence

T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Power!
this is probably just the theme song...but its sung by Partners in Kryme. lyrics at http://lyrics.blueaudio.com/song/08829

For those who thought recipe 3 might hold some secrets.

The page looks totally unaltered. When I viewed it there was absolutely no corrupted images or text. The recipe itself seems to be, well, a recipe and does not stand out.

However, in viewing source, I found the following HTML code:
Quote:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!--

//-->
</SCRIPT>

That was the only part of the HTML that stood out to me. Maybe in the next update, recipe3 will have some running java content.

More likely she's using it to represent that we need to help her out here. That's what the previous line's about. Perhaps that we need to team up. Perhaps even that we need to team up with a half-human samurai rat to fight an evil pink brain carried around in the belly of a lobotomised fat guy, but I think we should maybe stick with "Help her out" for now.

TMNT

I think the song is significant as well. I don't think it's too far of a stretch to see relevance in

Now our ace reporter was hot on the trail
Determined to put these crooks in jail
She spied the bad guys and saw what happened
But before she knew it she fell in a trap and
Got caught yes she was all alone
With no friends and no phone
Now this was beyond her worst dreams

Sounds close to the theme of the Princess' plight to me.[/b]

for reference, I have updated the WIKI trail http://bees.netninja.com/wiki/index.php?title=Trail to include today's change, and added a page that has the full email we all received. http://bees.netninja.com/wiki/index.php?title=Group_Email_8-3

If that helps...

Re: TMNT

Possibly, but if that bit was particularly significant, she'd have quoted it, wouldn't she? That's the way she works, cutting and pasting, as far as we know. If you're going to start analysing the text she hasn't quoted, you have to do the same for every word and every sentence of every other work she's used.

I'm Probably taking it too literally, but...

Should we try to teach the Princess to use Skype or Net2Phone or something so that she can track down Dana (who we assume is not checking e-mail anymore)? I only bring it up because of the "With no friends and no phone" line...

As has been discussed elsewhere, it may be that the Princess IS the Operator (albeit without memories, and in light of today's email, learning everything from scratch) - if so, she may have some instinct for employing different communication technologies. It's a long shot, but I am going to try to send an e-mail with some instructions.

TMNT2

I know what you mean about searching all the text. I only thought the TMNT at the end was significant because of the order.

Quote:
Well, I will tell you
that secret
I found

maybe you can help me (?)

T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Power!

love

*** END: FULL LICENSE ***

I was thinking that the secret isn't in the text above the part where she mentions it. I thought she was saying, she will tell us the secret and it's hidden in T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! T-U-R-T-L-E Power! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Power!

edited to change the sub tag to the quote tag. - varin

My spec on the Princess.

So far she's only been able to communicate with what we give her, which implies a lack of ability to formulate language.

We know that the mission of Melissa's ship was to observe hostile communications -- hence the convo between Captain Greene and the LT.

My presumption would be that the Princess is some form of AI, possibly just a subroutine of the original Melissa, that was designed to listen to Enemy (presumably Covenant) communications, and ultimately, once it understood Covenant protocols, to forge fake transmissions.

Could it have been developed by the Castaway? The "fooling them with sound" thing suggests a connection...

But if so, we have two considerations.
If the Princess was originally part of Melissa, she may not be being truthful about why she wants Dana. Melissa wants Dana dead, after all.

If the Princess is now in rebellion against Melissa, we're smack dab in between two warring AIs.

Turtles?

Hey everyone, first post here, but I may have something relevant to point out. Could be considered a really big stretch though.

Has anyone sent anything concerning the Turtles besides the song? Like the names maybe?

Perhaps it has to do with the artists Leonardo, Michelangelo, Rapheal, and Donatello (sorry if I misspelled).

Maybe one of their paintings has something to do with anything?

Or am I just reaching WAY too far?

Just a thought, I just really want to contribute to this fascinating project. Embarassed

Shell games

Turtles, eh? First thing I thought of was shells. You know, turtles are protected in them from outside attacks.

Maybe we're supposed to be looking in something that's acting as a shield or some sort of shell script embedded in the source code.

My .02 cents,

Bellebet

This might be a trout, but there are obviously two copies of the letter. One is commented out,and one is in html. I cleaned up the redundant (maybe?) html out of the e-mail and was left with this.

Edit: Removed eyeball-piercing text and attached as a text file. Pasting here was unnecessary. -SpaceBass
