[RING][BLOG] March 23rd - New blog/video from Ariadne
an earthquake?

Ariadne has posted a new blog entry: http://www.findthelostring.com/ariadne/detail.do?postId=1221

A weird dream about an earthquake
I'm a little worried about Diego.

Last week, he set off on some mysterious "geographic investigations" in Brazil. He said he was inspired by Eli Hunt's podcast on "The Ancient Game Keepers" -- you remember, the one about a Greek earthquake in 1953 that opened up a secret chamber.

The scary thing is that Renata disappeared four years ago while on EXACTLY the same kind of investigation in Brazil.

Maybe I'm just so worried about Diego that it's creeping into my dreams. But last night I had one of those dreams again that felt more like another memory coming back to me. And it was about a very weird earthquake.

I mentioned the dream to Kai this morning, and he said I should make a video with as many details as I remember. I of course said no, that's too embarrassing!

But then I thought about it, and you guys did such an amazing job figuring out what the last weird dream meant, I had to do it. BUT TRUST ME. This dream is pretty weird and embarrassing and even a little stupid. So don't blame me if it doesn't make any sense when you hear it!

EDIT to add transcript:
Ariadne's dream wrote:
I had a very strange dream last night. Maybe you can help me figure out what it means. But I have to warn you before we start -- it's very, very weird.

When the dream starts, I'm sitting on top of a dinner plate, but it's not a normal plate; it's a gigantic plate, like the size of a city. So I look down and I notice that the plate is made out of this really fancy china, and it has this delicate little tree pattern all over it. The leaves branch out in every possible direction. For the longest time, I'm mesmerized by the pattern. I keep tracing my finger over it, following the branches in all these different directions.

And I notice that I'm dressed very oddly. I'm wearing a purple sari. But it's not an ordinary sari; it's way too big for me. There's enough fabric for at least a hundred saris, and it's draped over my shoulders so tight that I can barely move from the weight of it, and I can think is, "What in the world am I doing here?"

The dream gets weirder. The plate starts to shake. It feels like an earthquake only it doesn't stop after 15 seconds; it keeps going. The plate starts to crack. It's breaking up all around me and the cracks are getting bigger; they're everywhere, like the earth is breaking itself apart in thousands of little puzzle pieces. And I don't know why this pops into my head, but suddenly I realize that the reason I'm wearing this ridiculously oversized sari is that I'm supposed to use the sari to stop the earthquake. Okay, it doesn't make sense when you say it out loud like that, but in the dream it made perfect sense.

So I start unrolling the sari from my body. I'm on my hands and my knees crawling all over the shaking dinner plate, smoothing out the fabric on top of the cracks. And everywhere I get the cloth on the plate, the china stops shaking and the cracks start to heal. So now I'm unrolling myself as fast as I can, laying out the fabric in crisscrosses all across the plate, trying to go as fast as I can so I can stop the whole thing from falling apart. And I feel happy because I know I'm helping but I also feel scared because the plate is so big, and I can still see it shaking far in the distance in every direction I can see and I know that I can't cover all that ground by myself.

And that's when I wake up. I told you it was weird. Obviously I know that it wasn't a literal memory of something that actually happened to me, but it must be a symbolic memory. The thing is: I have no idea what the symbols represent. I hope you can help me figure it out.

well i think this dream has sth to do with the earthquake .. that is mentioned in elis podcasts !!

maybe it is really really important what was found in that chamber ..
and of course this purpel thing she is wearing shows her .. that she is one of the agonothetai ..

maybe we should gather some more information about that chamber!!

or about this broken fragment with that man on it .. wearing a blindfold ..

well this is just a brief summary ..

i will watch elis podcast again i think .. maybe there are some similarities

Well, there's the word The Great Eathshaker scrawled in the chamber at Kefalonia, which had broken plates inside and the the plate the fisherman found there with the purple robed figures of agonothetai. . .

So the giant dinner plate might be a tectonic plate (cause it's big and a plate and it shakes). And the lines on plate could be fault lines.

Does this mean that the agonothetai had the power to cause/prevent earthquakes? Maybe the lost game has something to do with placating the Great Earthshaker, so it doesn't destroy the world like how Hunt said that the agonthetai's job was too make sure the Gods were amused.

There's already been some discussion over at adriadne's forums about the lost ring being a reference to a lost continent possibly Atlantis. I think the dream could be tied to it's destruction and scattering of its knowledge and people possibly across time and space.

Personally, I think the plate is symbolic of the Multiverse, the lost ring of worlds, and that something, possibly centered on Earth, is causing damage to the Multiverse and threatening it's survival, and that Ariadne has to stop it from happening.

Here's what I think.

This plate is the world. The patterns on it are the connections between cities and people. The fact that she keeps tracing the pattern relates to the fact that she and the other agonothetai are connecting people from all different countries and cities together.

Purple, as a colour, means royalty. The sari is a single, long, wraparound piece of fabric. Depending how it was wrapped, it could also be a sarong, a toga, a chiton, and half a dozen other things. It's tight because she has a great responsibility that she can't forget. More on the sari later.

This relates to Micha's dreams of the world ending. I'm a little surprised that Ariadne was the one awarded the visions this time, and that they were symbolic. Well, perhaps Micha's were symbolic, too. Do we know? The cracks in the plate symbolise the breakdown of communications and goodwill between cities and countries and people. And, tell me, what is the Olympics trying to do? Harbour goodwill, create connections and establish communications between nations/cities/athletes/spectators. Funny, that.

So she's supposed to stop the breakdown of everything from happening. This fits with what we already know, that Ariadne and the agonothetai are very, very important and that something's going to happen that they can stop/help with.

She's connecting all the places again with her thread. Okay, fabric, but same idea.

Aaaaand that's a subtle hint that we have to help her, that we can't let Ariadne do this on her on. We the community, Ariadne's friends (including Eli Hunt, yes) and the other agonothetai have to get in on this and heal some cracks ourselves.

That's all I've got. What does everyone else think?

This was my thought as well. I am guessing the tree pattern on the plate is symbolic of the multiverse, where the universe splits and collapses, similar to the waveforms in the New Atlantis book.

I am guessing that to "repair the world," we will need to take action at many points in the world throughout the game, and there will be so many it will require the participation of lots of players to do.

I do think the Olympic themes of uniting people from different cultures will tie in here, but my guess it will be more in the process, i.e. the fact that we have to communicate and collaborate to do what needs to be done.

just a question...
has anyone analysed these videos frame by frame?

I looked at the youtube trailers... and by looking at them bit by bit i found alot of things missed at full speed. such as "look to delphi" the word "read"flashing up and so on.

im only new at this... but i was wondering if anyone has noticed or done this yet.

Brodie, I think your theory is genious. Wink I'm guessing you're on the right track. The overall point of FTLR is the joining of fractured countries/cultures, and I think healing the fractures is supposed to be the ultimate goal. If I were you, I'd post it in Ariadne's forum, or send her an e-mail about it, to see if she responds.

If you are talking about the trailers for the game, yes, that has been discussed elsewhere, but good eye Smile! The phrase eventually found is "When you are ready to receive data, look to Delphi." This phrase also appears in an artifact that was found by a young Eli Hunt.
