People are saying it's an American remake for [REC] - Spanish Zombie Horror.

So, we're getting three films that copy Blair Witch? Cloverfield, Diary of the Dead, now Quarantined? Then again, [REC] was 2007.

Well technically, The Last Broadcast from 1998 was the first modern movie of this type, not Blair Witch from 1999. (Blair Witch received a much wider release, though.)

[Fun side-note: you may recognize the director of The Last Broadcast as the same guy who directed Head Trauma, the very ARGy movie.]

Um, anyway... /me de-threadjacks

THANK YOU!
I mentioned that film in the Cloverfield forum a long time ago as a good film to watch as similar in apparent style to Cloverfield, and noted it came BEFORE Blair Witch. I've not seen Blair Witch, only a scant few bits and pieces - but from what I gather it's actually more cheesy than cool. I caught The Last Broadcast on Bravo or IFC or some such channel incidentally about 3 years ago, and loved it. It was just re-released on DVD last year, but nobody was carrying it in my area (lame bastards).

I do hope someone figures out what this is about, because people desperate for more Cloverfield action right now are jumping on it.

Okay so in the new vlog that went up today, he basically just reiterates that he wants ppl with info to email him at easye323SPLATgmail.com... Are we missing something that we can find out, or do you think maybe someone got something in the mail and it hasn't surfaced yet?

Could be that they're either not ready or simply pacing themselves. I mean, movie release is seven months away.

That's true, but it just seems like he could have had a blog with like "havn't found anything yet" on it. but he keeps asking us to email him, it just seems kinda odd, like that was the sole purpose of this blog today.

Let's pray the acting is better than Cloverfield's, which, although great, obivously had newbie actors.

Just wanted to mention that I just finished watching "Rec", the Spanish movie on which this is based on... and I loved it!

It's more Night of the Living Dead than Cloverfield, but it has some impressive backstory potential. They don't explain WHY things got so screwed up in the movie; there are hints at the end, but no explanation.

If this ARG/ARE/Viral campaign seeks to explain all that, it's gonna be quite a ride.

DVD? I'll need to pick up one in either Blockbuster's foreign section, or get one from Netflix - dunno if Romero decided to do this after Diary of the Dead, although the zeds in [REC] were more like the 28 series.

New video is up, Eric asking if anyone knows where the video was shot. I was thinking of asking him this awhile ago too and never got around to it.

It was definitely in LA. I'm not sure the address, I'm new to LA myself. Thanks for your interest in the case. I'll keep you posted if I find out anything new.

Is this guy stupid or something?

he wants to know where in LA, all i can figure out is there are two apartment complexes, one brick, across the street from one another, and one parking garage.

I've tried looking for the scene at the GoogleMaps StreetView at random LA parking garages, and havn't gotten lucky yet...

In the first few seconds of the "trailer" you can see a white building in the background. I thought finding out what that building could be is an idea. Then I looked at the flickr page for that "detective" to see if I could find something similar, and I did.

Below are the two photos (the video and the flickr photo). I have circled the part that looks to be the same to me. It's a shot in the dark, but could turn up something.

tower

Well, the tower in your first picture is City Hall here in LA. I can't really make out the second picture.

I'm jumping in on this one too, sounds promising.

You should email him that, see if we can get more info out of him. Also, can someone who's been contacting him tell him to try to sneak in in where he used to work to see if he could find more strange reports like case 1017? Maybe we can get a fresh video!
