Real detectives work the information or evidence they have. When they run out of clues, they do go on gut reactions. The whole cop hunch thing.

Except for the fact that most of the people who keep writing uninformed spec's clearly aren't big on reading. Or searching.

Re: Not "yet I joined him"

"I don't drink" yet I joined him... some who don't drink alcohol will still join you in a drink, but it's just soda water or something in the glass. Here, it's probably just a projection like Melissa's avatar.

If Melissa had said "yet I joined him", it would be ok. The particular part that troubles me is the "but I asked for something anyway". If she were joining him with a holographic drink, why would she ask the Castaway for it?

You know, there's actually no indication that she asked the Castaway for it. She could just have easily asked the bartender, or a cocktail waitress, or the drink dispenser...or her own holographic generator (please forgive my lack of knowledge of the Haloverse if that's completely impossible Embarassed ).

My guess is she did whatever made it look the most real for the Castaway, because she does seem to have enjoyed the illusion he has fostered by calling her Melissa and flirting with her -- i.e., that she was real.

Edit to fix broken quote format

I know this is trout but I wanted to mention it here anyway.
Is it possible that when she says she doesnt drink, it simply means she doesnt drink alcohol. what is she does drink liquids somehow.
I dont remember her saying that she CANT drink

Can you explain, then, how a holographically prjected image, given the illusion of life by the Artificial Intelligence program that controls the image, would drink anything?

No, I cannot, but there seems to be a lot of metaphors in this. It is most likely flawed and stupid logic, but what if somehow she could.
now that I think about that,
yep I agree
Im dumb lol
