 [SPEC] Poss linking thoughts....

Oki.. transition from being a lurker to a poster.. I've been hanging out on the ariadne forums reading the posts and i read about the Gordian Knot. in the post there a gentleman has posted a link to various labyrinth pictures etc including a solution to the labyrinth found at a digsite..
this is the link: http://mmmgroup.altervista.org/e-labiri.html
Oki.. so there's a link between the book on atlantis and the labyrinths, and also i had a thought that as the labyrinth was originally made to keep a minotaur trapped, perhaps this labyrinth idea isn't as simple as it looks...

If memory serves me correctly, the Minotaur had a ring in its nose, signified to be the half bull that it was.. now.. just suppose that this ring is the one we are looking for thats lost???
After the Minotaur was slain and the victor escaped with Ariadni, she was dropped off on an island never to be heard from again.. (so to speak)..
Ok.. so just supposing she had the minotaurs ring, and this island became the home of the legendary Atlantis.. If you look at the maps of atlantis on that web link, you'll notice that its shaped like a labyrinth for which the solution fits.....
With me so far??? good... Right, so the six points we have from the postcard are the points for the exact centre of a labyrinth.. take a flat map, overlay the points with the Labyrinths AND the solution, and carry the starting line out and start turning the orientation of the labyrinths at the co-ordinates until all the lines intersect at one point....

Do we then have the mythical resting place of Atlantis where we might find the lost ring??? or do we infact have another place to look for a clue???

If it is atlantis, we will need to overlay the solution to find the exact centre of the city from where we might be able to find the lost ring..

Oki.. if you've followed that i congratulate you, i can only just follow my logic and i'm the one that wrote it.... lol..
This may all just be coincidence and trout, BUT... if its not, we could have a rather large gain on our hands here.....

what do you think?????

hey Smile

your thoughts are really really interesting !!
i really like them!! and maybe we really should think a bit more to the minotaurus and atlantis and so on ..

some questions are still there .. or were now made Wink
how do the agonothetai fit into the whole thing .. i mean .. do they have the mission to be the game-keeper .. as its said .. and they have to rearrange the lost sport?
or are they the keeper of the labyrinth .. and also of the minotaur??

and .. the ring in the nose of the minotaur .. is this the ring that we are looking for? but what for? .. i mean .. the labyrinth of the minotaur was to trap the minotaur .. what is the reason of the lost game?
finding the minotaur in the middle of the labyrinth?? taking the ring? or sth like that??

and maybe it's really the mission to find atlantis .. as the 6th continent and also .. if its really build like a labyrint though .. to play the lost game right there?!

Perhaps "the lost game" as it were was to defeat the Minotaur and return the lost ring thus completing the olympic rings??? We know that the original trials met by the greeks at their olympics were trials of their strength and ability as great warriors, so therefore it would stand to reason that there was a final task for the ultimate warrior to complete, and that being the lost game???

Going by this, we'd need to make the 6 labyrinths at the locations around the world, find the centre, build a labyrinth and awake the mythical minotaur and slay him to get the lost ring??

So as we have 6 people around the world with the tattoos, and we have 6 points of centre, do we need one of each on each labyrinth centre for us to find the central labyrinth? and if so, who do we send to defeat the minotaur?? is there another rogue amnesiac out there that we have yet to find???
And, is there a specific time that we have to make the satelite labyrinths in order for us to be able to make the final one, and what tasks must the 6 face to be able to stand in the centre of the labyrinths at precisely the right time???? Does it have something to do with the goggles??? will they let them see something that is there but we are unable to see, but only at the precise time???

just thinking out loud here...

I like your thoughts Very Happy

I watched a movie about the minoans life .. that is .. minos as their king and the palace of him ..
as you said .. minos was the father of ariadne (there must be a connection Razz)
and as it is said in the movie ..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U4fco3hDrk&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrjYOibgs60&feature=related

the palace of minos was build like a labyrinth ..
and in the middle of it .. there was a big place where some games or sth like that took place .. nothing to KILL a bull or maybe the minotaur .. but to make a show with them ..
the minoans were the enemies of the greeks .. and maybe the greeks thought about the minoans killing them there .. or trapping the minotaur in that labyrinth Mad i acutally don't know ! :\

if we have the 6 points where we have to build the labyrinths .. how do we have to manage it?? and i still don't really know, what will be in the middle of it .. but yes i think .. the 6 persons that we know, have to find sth IN that labyrinth

wouldn't it make more sense for the 6 to be the primary victors of the labyrinths that we already know have to be made?? even if its just (as someone said in a post i read) a human labyrinth that they walk around? as long as they make it to the centre alive they complete the task and get sth? In the trailers though you see them wondering through with the goggles on, what part do they play?? do they have to do it all with the goggles i wonder???

Didn't they all start in a labyrinth of some form or another? weren't they like found in the centre of one like ariadne was??? I'm wondering if they have to go back there and escape the labyrinth with the goggles on in order to complete the first steps of the trials.. perhaps the goggles do hold some form of significance as per the trailers....

oki.. spooky coincidence here.. but being the sad Network Admin/Geek that i am i decided to do an IP Lookup on the servers housing the site and the omphputer.... the lookup gave me some interesting results....

Hostname

164.109.150.213

Geo-Location Information

Country United States
State/Region MD
City Beltsville
Postal Code 20705
Latitude 39.0504
Longitude -76.9055
Area Code 301

oki.. now goto google maps or earth and use the lat and long.. look at the roads just below in that nice grid.... there's our Theresa and our Olympia... plus the key map showed it wasn't far from Alexandria... this is WAY too spooky not to be useful in some way...

As I recall from school & Greek History, there was a lot of athletics involving bull-leaping and acrobatics in Crete.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull-leaping
http://www.strangehorizons.com/2005/20050124/bull-leaping-a.shtml

This is emulated in the vault event (done by both men & women).

In my very humble opinion, you all are taking the idea of the minotaur too literally. I really don't think there's going to be anything like a real minotaur/bull found here. The labyringth myth was meant to represent the Mycenaean Greeks invasion of the peaceful Minoan Crete. Theseus's battle with the Minotaur represented this war.

Again IMHO, FTLR is meant to represent--as has been spec'd elsewhere--the breaking apart of our world, the distancing of countries/cultures from one another (our current state of war, for example), and our mission is to join the cultures together. To recreate, if you will, the peaceful state of Crete before it was invated by the Greeks...

What the lost ring is, precisely, I'm not sure, but I really think taking it to mean an actual ring is again too literal.

I'm with Elizabeth. While I don't think the game has anything to do with the Olympic rings, there's a reason that they're joined on the Olympic flag. I think the ring represents people coming together.

If there is a minotaur, then it's representative of things dividing people: propaganda, culture wars, ignorance, intolerance etc.

In Ariadne's earthquake dream, she spoke of having enough cloth to heal the entire plate, but she couldn't do it all herself. I guess this means she needs help. Between us all, we can heal the world (there's enough purple cloth for all of us!) - all we need to do is come together, work together and we can make harmony and peace.

It's a bit cheesy, but it's an important message.

Jonno - while I would really hope that it meant something, since I live in THAT Alexandria, I suspect that's probably out of game. There's not much to be done about having to host game elements on servers in this universe after all... Razz

But of course I could be wrong. So keeping an open mind.
