[BLOG] Ariadne 24/03/08 - Enter the Opposition... Someone stole the artifact! As pointed out by thebruce in irc...

Okay. I have to leave Cardiff. TONIGHT.
And maybe YOU all should forget about the lost ring.
I mean it. Just forget it.
This whole thing started because I thought I was an ordinary girl with amnesia. I built this website and asked for your help because I really believed that somewhere out there, a family was missing me. I was convinced I could find them over the Internet. Maybe when you first saw this website, you believed that story too.
But now we know better, don't we? No one is going to "solve" my amnesia. No one is going to recognize me. I probably don't even exist in this world. There is no family here for me.
My family exists in a different world. Call it a "parallel universe" or "alternate reality" or "quantum world" or WHATEVER. I still don't understand how it works. All I know is that to get back home, to MY world, I'm supposed to dig up an ancient secret that we all might be better off not knowing. I'm supposed to bring back a lost tradition that apparently can either save the Earth or destroy the Earth, depending on how we do it.
Well, maybe the forgotten mysteries of the Olympics should STAY forgotten.
Just because someone tattooed a mission on my arm doesn't mean I have to accept it.
***
Okay, I just had to get that out of my system.
I'm sure that's EXACTLY what "Theo" is hoping I'll say.
But let's face it. I don't have a choice. I'm stuck with this mission whether I like it or not. It's my fate, and I don't think I'll ever escape it.
But you. Well, you didn't sign up for this. You still have a choice.
Just because you know what Trovu La Ringon Perditan means doesn't make it YOUR responsibility to find the lost ring.
You can still go back to not knowing what the ancient Olympics were really designed to do.
You can still go back to not believing that the modern Olympics are hiding the biggest secret in the world in plain sight.
And you can think twice before coming back to this website.
I have to take the risk. But if you're not willing to, well, I won't blame you.

Dangit, I'd just finished typing up my own write-up of this, and you beat me to posting it .
Anyways...is it just me, or does Theo's writing match that on Monica's postcard?

Uh, I didn't even realize that she was still in Cardiff, any chance we can convince her to steal the New Atlantis book from Eli Hunt's library ??

We've all been assuming that the postcard was written by Jorge & Co, but Monica never makes that explicit - she says that it was a "piece" of "their work".
Perhaps the postcard was written by the opposition back in the day? Perhaps it's where they were, not our team?
EDIT: Have been alerted to the fact the writing on the trailhead packages is also the same... the plot thickens further...

that kind of gives a rough idea of where to look anyway.

Theo/ Theodosius Wondering about the author's name, brought to mind Theodosius.
My impression from one of Hunt's podcasts (I've forgotten which one) was that Theodosius' banning of the games disrupted the secret games in the first place.
It was 393 A.D. when Theodosius decreed that all such "pagan cults" be banned.

drizjr, you beat me to it! You did word it better than I would have though. Yes... definitely not a coincidence, especially since 393 AD was approximately 1600 years ago...
I am getting the feeling that there may be an IG virus/hacking attempt on the findthelostring website or even the omphaputer.

Ah, but I have the feeling of the opposite, or at least for the Omphaputer.
It is not confirmed that Eli run's the OP (I'm gonna call it that, it's a bloody pain in the ass to write omphaputer eight hundred times), and I believe this Theodosius may be running.
How else did the Brussels artifact disappear so fast? How else would he know where it would be?
If we are using his own machine against him we could look forward to perhaps some firewalls and what not

Enemy I've written Diego warning him about this unkwon enemy. There is a post in the official Diego's forum from "Leonardo", a Brasilian guy that warning us about the fact that there is no earthquakes in Brasil!, and Diego is right now investigating earthquakes in Brasil...
[SPEC] Diego is victim of an ambush.

I may be confused about this (as I am of many things ), but I don't think that Eli runs the OP. He discovered it via the waveform notations in Bacon's book. So it's whoever wrote those notations that have knowledge of the omphaputer and may well be it's creator.
Does the handwriting in Bacon's book match this new postcard too?
/me goes to check
eta: answering my own question... nope, not a match.

[META?] Interesting thing is, even if the scribbling on that postcard doesnt't match to that postcards we've got at the beginning of the game, but the postcard itself (Olympic Museum Collections) does.[META]
Is it perhaps new clue? Or just something like "tm"?

Someone broke into my room. They took the artifact. And they left this message.
I find myself unable to (a) sleep, or (b) post comments to Ariadne's blog, so I have emailed her the following question:
Who knew where she was staying in Cardiff?
Did she tell Eli Hunt? It seems unlikely that he would be Theo, given that all he had to do was not given Ariadne or the rest of us any information and we'd by stymied. I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt.
What about Kai? He certainly knew that Ariadne was in Cardiff (he's the one who got her there), so he might have known exactly where she was staying. He's also the one who first found her -- which would be an excellent cover story for someone whose job it was to watch her -- and he's the one who gave her the symbolic name of Ariadne. Again, though, if Kai wanted to stymie her then why would he volunteer to set up the site and the forums and the personality quiz and all that? I am slightly more suspicious of him, but certainly not convinced that he's Theo.
That leaves the third option: someone we haven't met yet. Someone who followed Ariadne from South Africa to Wales on awfully short notice. Someone who probably has five allies watching the other athletes -- and one of them may have found the time to make a quick side-trip to Bruxelles. And someone who is so ridiculously overconfident of success that he left Ariadne a taunting note letting her (and us) know of his existence, instead of just stealing the artifact and leaving without a trace.
I wonder how Theo felt about Jorge and his friends back in 1920?

What's the status on the Bruxelles pick up? Maybe there will at least be a card from Theo there.

Well, besides Hunt and Kai, she also told the entire internet that she was going to Cardiff. So maybe it was someone already in Cardiff. Eli Hunt works in Cardiff because the first chapter of the Codex is there, so it wouldn't be surprising that other people with an interest in the lost ring were hiding there too.

Do we know what the picture on the postcard is of? I can't read the capital letters in the bottom-right hand corner and I think that's the place name.
The image must be relevant. It might help tell us who "Theo" is?
