[SPEC] The plot against Sir Francis Bacon
How deeply are Bacon's writings involved in all of this?

In the Solve the puzzle of the wave forms" thread, there was a discussion about reading stuff on the backs of scanned pages we've been given.

As a part of that, Tronex lined to an earlier post of his - part of which was:

I would like to point out a totally different thing:

As you can clearly see, the left page is pasted over with another piece of paper containing a hand written note.
I mirrored the image and tried to highlight the backside:

The text that shimmers through the paper reads as follows:

The next Weekly Volume
Cassell's National Library
(ready April 12) will be Macaulay's
Essay on Francis Bacon

As a matter of fact, the referenced essay was published in "The Edinburgh Review" not until July. If that means anything? I've got no clue…

I went digging, and found this link. Although the guy appears to also be one of those who believe Bacon also wrote Shakespeare's works, what he has to say about this essay of Macaulay's is fascinating:

Alfred Dodd wrote:
The Lie regarding Francis Bacon has sunk deep into the souls of men. We were taught it as children at the day school; we heard it later in life in the pulpit and lecture hall; we see it repeated today in popular' press articles by poets like John Drinkwater and popular novelists like Sir Max Pemberton. The Lie began with Lord Macaulay's infamous rhetorical Essay in I837, which twisted the facts of the times, distorted the truth, and suppressed vital evidence in order to blacken Francis Bacon's character.

Writing those notes on the back of this notice is not likely to be coincidental... but is it significant? Could the suppression of the Lost Games and the blackening of Bacon's name be linked?

You guys are probably on to this already but I figured I would share anyway.

Google books has a completely digitized version of Thomas Babington
Macaulay's Critical and historical essays, contributed to The Edinburgh review
(it's the entire text and free to download, this I think is pretty rare but I could be wrong)
The Essay in question, the one on Bacon starts on page 341.
Also there's plenty of numbers on the first pages for all you number crunching types. At any rate I thought it might give some info. I will read the essay on Bacon as soon as I can and see if it yields anything interesting.

I'm not number or scientifically minded but I sure can read Wink
