You can't edit the spreadsheet yourself? Strange...

I can't edit it either - it just says "View only" next to the title, even though I'm logged into my Google account.

It should work. (I copied it from the invitation to edit, which is how google seems to do these things.)

Plus, I tried it out with another google account that wasn't mine (friend's) and he could edit. So, you should be good.
